Good listen just not under the correct type of romance

Was a good sifi listen...but not necessarily a dark romance. Think maybe should have just been under the immortal title read.

Another Great Book but SLOW Start
Reviewed: 01-02-19
Although I've been trying to read these books in order, this particular one dragged on for almost two hours back & forth with Her backstory. More often than not I appreciate this. Unfortunately this particular book dragged it out to hear boredom for Me,especially on people whom will no longer be in the series. I'm JS... Other than this, a pretty good read (listen). Not sure if worth the $$$ at regular price.

So glad I found this Series!

So glad I found this Series after the 2nd book is already out! I don't mind cliffhangers, but wld not have been happy to have had to wait to see what happens next! This is a pretty good Story line but that was a MASSIVE cliffhanger!
At first I was not sure how much of Peter's story I was going to enjoy and if He ended up being A sadistic Assassin w no capability to love past his Ripped Out ❤, but glad that was not the case. Only reason I only rated a 4 is bcuz this Narrator always starts off talking way WAY too fast and seems almost out of breath, trying to get too many words into sentence. She starts to slow down about quarter way through and m able to get lost in the story & enjoying it a lot! This is the reason I almost didn't get the series, I don't care for the way she narrates the last book I listened to.

SO Bummed! Just Couldn't get into the story.
Reviewed: 09-19-18
Wow, what a bummer! I read the books intro & listened to the Audible intro, (They have different intro's or words ) but are usually on point. I tried to listen for 2 hours to allow Myself to get swept away into the story but found it to be Very Dry. I'm uncertain if it was just the lacking of enough pitch changes in this Narrator's voice when necessary if it was just the fact that the story line jumped around(for lack of a better word) too much for My taste. I've heard this Narrator's voice in another Book that I have listened to in the last couple days and I'd be remiss if I didn't think Her voice was better suited for books with a higher level of PASSION. JS, in the almost out of breath, throaty way She ends each sentence from the first line of the story seems like it was just not a good fit for this book. It is just as I see it. I can't read for more than 10-15 mins. w/o suffering bad migraines, therefore, I depend on the voice of the Narrator(s) to allow Myself to close My eyes and let My imagination whisk me into the story. Or maybe even doing little mundane task around the yard or home & still enjoy the tale. This just didn't not do that for Me and I have wasted more than 2 hours of My Day !😕 Perhaps others may be able read it & enjoy.

At Last Ulriks Story!
Reviewed: 08-13-18
Well, I can't say I'm not disappointed that after 13 books & 3 Novellas, The reader is no closer to finding out which King is Rhie's or Rhie's !!(Since At book8 or 9 they changed the way it's pronounced.SMH. At least w Ulriks Story, it has been a (long time coming but) there was a building anticipation for him to finally get his life back on track w His TRUE MATE Eilish whom until just recently was brought into the story at end of book 11,and caught on camera talking w Michael & him asking her to kill Ulrik & Con. Only described as Druid Beauty w/ a Silver ring that ran from her 2nd knuckle to sharp nail like tips on her last 3 fingers & Mocha skin ,who truly did not know Ulrik until book 12. (Where She was starting to find out more of how big of a liar & Jerk Michael really was). Which is All relevant(I say this because of I only read reviews & knew nothing about the story line of other Kings & their mates and decided to start reading this book I would be very confused) so as You will find as You get swept away in this Story, please keep that in mind. Ulriks magic was particularly unlocked from a different Druid, which if you go back a few books, well that's where you will find out the whole truth of it & how the magic binding ALL Kings from falling in Love was broken as well.
Other than the fact that I am annoyed with the Rhie's story line, this was a really and truly well written story. I like to think that DG actually listens to the desires of her readers , because there are several times in this Series that I have found myself LOL ,crying, feeling a bit flush in the steamy parts & even talking to the evil /bad ppl in the story like (that's what you get). But never more than in this most recent book. Ok if it's bcuz a more lighter/likable side of Ulriks personality showed more or if it was that Michael got what He deserved or Mrs.Queen of the Light Fae was knocked down a leg or if it was just the combination of it all but I finished this book feeling like I knew a lot more about quite a few characters then any of the books in this Series this far.
I hope that I am not left wanting & waiting for something more than "Him" to be said of Rhie's King in the next book to drop. For as much as She is always trying to help her Friends, she sure gets the Sh*t end of the stick A Lot . Don't think I will buy another one from the series of so. You can only stretch something like that out for so long. Even if it's just to have her give him a hard time. A sad Rhie, who isn't even sassy...just not the same.

This book is an absolute MUST READ! I love how so many questions that have been running around in My head since the first book have been answered, yet several more have arisen.
Just reading the Dragon Kings Dark series is enough to keep 1 up to speed on most of the couple's story and what role they play, yet I would highly recommend the Reader to read the 1001 Dark Nights Novellas that coincide with the series as they are released!!! It definitely makes for a better understanding of the storyline. The one thing that has bothered me is the name of Dragon King Loved that broke Rhy's(??) heart has yet to be revealed!!! I have a pretty good idea of whom it is, but I'm not really sure and feel kinda strung along. I surely done expect to read it in the first few books of the Series but by book 10 (including the Novellas) I do! This is getting ridiculous. All I can say is good thing there are several more books already in print & on Audible left to listen to.! Other than that, I love the how DG has given each character in the series their own identity and yet not ruined the story with too much of the smushy romance & stayed as realistic as possible, if there were indeed Dragon Kings who had been here since the dawn of time.😊

Love, Love,Loved it ! I'm so happy that I had to find a New Author (while waiting for next book from my usual😁) Kym Grosso had Me hooked from book 1 of "The Immortals of New Orleans" series. And the story of Jake, well that's been a long time coming and I'm so happy that She waited till now to tell his story! He has been a part of the Series in pretty much every book in some capacity. And to say this was the icing on the cake, wld b putting it mildly! Of course it wld take something as unattainable & Majestic as Kyi's "Peyo"(??), Along w her feisty attitude & willingness to explore Jakes taste in unbridled Sex & lovemaking, to bring out The Alpha he had been denying himSelf! And the story of Quintus has peaked My intrest,as before now, he was only said to be a very old Vampire but he is connected to Kyi somehow & once it's revealed how this Ancient Vampire, with all his oddities,is connected to this mysterious & Beautiful Creature things start to call in place & the 3 of them form an unbreakable bond that will change their lives forever! I love the style of Grosso's writing. She has gone beyond the plain old vanilla flavor of Lovemaking that has been in Romance books for many years!(not that those books were bad, just always left Me wanting a but more spice!) And there is a Great storyline, humor that had Me actually LOL, The Hell Yeah Sex & even Suspense& Action! This Whole Series of "Immortals of New Orleans" Thus Far has been Everything I look for in a series & an Author! And "Jake" ......a knock out of the ballpark! I am So Excited for the next book in this series! Can't Wait!!!!!!!😄(sidenote, I would recommend reading this series in order for which they were written. Not saying that you can't read & enjoy it alone. Just when you have read the books prior to "Jake" then you read it,You will have a better understanding of who Jake is and in My opinion, will enjoy the book that much more!) This is not a pg13 series!!Definitely An ADULT book! But pretty sure this fact is addressed in the area which you found these titles of books. Enjoy...I know I did.
