About this listen

Jadee Trollis knows a little something about things that go bump in the night. Thanks to a father obsessed with myths, legends, and the paranormal, Jadee was dragged around the world in his pursuit of everything from ghosts to Sasquatch as a child. She got away from all that craziness in her teens, seeking a normal life as an adult. A trip to Alaska to visit her father quickly turns into a nightmare. Jadee ends up trapped in her father's tricked-out RV, hiding from the dangerous Vampires outside.

Lavos is the hottest man she's ever seen when he comes to her rescue. He growls, has some seriously strange but beautiful eyes, and he's not human. But returning to the lower 48 might not be the safety net she's expecting, and the normal life Jadee craves more than anything means never seeing Lavos again. When she finds herself in need of his help, it seems her new normal may be back in Alaska, waiting in her VampLycan's arms.

I'm glad I tried something new I have enjoyed these books. I've read them out of order and they make you go back to the ones you missed

Discovery

Jadee's dad is a paranormal myth hunter that has already had one heart attack. Her sole purpose of going to Alaska is to get him to stop his crazy obsession and come home before it's too late.

Lavos is sent out by his brother, the new clan leader, to investigate a possible vampire nest in their territory. When he stumbles across humans being attacked by vampires all hell breaks loose.

Jadee has seen too much but she is resistant to mind control. Clan law says she has to die. But when Lavos looks into her eyes all he can think about is the law of nature.

Not quite a standalone

I got this book for free with my plus account. The description suggested the book was a standalone but not quite. The story and narrators are great. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger of the bigger story. It was a bit confusing to figure out the bad guys from the previous books and how they connected to this. And then at the end of the book when I finally got it, it was suddenly something like HEA. I was left wondering about the larger storyline and how these characters played into it. Would have been better to at least tie up something. It just felt blatantly like a hard sell to buy the next book, which always annoys me.

Lavos is Precarious and Arduous!

This is book 5 out of a 10 book series on VampLycons and GarLycons and I am loving it! Book 5 was on VampLycon "Lavos", who is the brother of the clan leader Lorn. What I loved about this book was Lavos proved to be a dangerous, strong VampLycon, but he also was the most gentle VampLycon when dealing with his potential mate "Jadee". Infact, Jadee was the more aggressive badass and it was so cool to see Lavos deal with that type of personality on a woman and it really didn't affect his ego as I have seen in previous storylines. It was a refreshing change as you never know what storyline your going to get as you move from book to book. Laurann is such a creative writer and Savannah Richards elevates her writing and storyline by giving the characters the perfect voices to fit their demeanor. They really are the dynamic duo, that's for sure!

The only criticism I have is that every book gets short in length, which is a bummer!! Because I travel, I am listening to the story throughout the day and I only wish they were as long as book one, but other than that, I love the way every storyline is so different from the prior book.

I am now onto book 6 about Wen. As an audible reader, I can't wait to hear his story!

Good listen

I enjoyed this story. The narrator was good. The story was good. I like that it got me hooked in with the suspense and action first and then circled back to the steamy stuff. It was worth the wait. Will definitely continue series and listen to prior books as well.

unfinished...

I love Laura's book but for the first time this one felt and read "incomplete." it seemed to have a beginning and an end but the middle... was just incomplete. I felt empty instead of revved up as I usually am by her stories. hope this isn't going to be a trend.

VLG BOOKS FOUR AND FIVE REVIEW

Any additional comments?

If you've seen my reviews of the first three books you know I loved them . These two are not as good but they are enjoyable. It seems it took too long for Lavos and Veso to determine the women were their mates so not enough coupling for me. I still love the series as a whole and if you love paranormal these are good listens.
