Enjoyable zombie series with a few caveats…
Reviewed: 07-04-23
Overall I really enjoyed listening to this zombie apocalypse series of six books. The characters we’re interesting, and the story itself had many twists and turns. I enjoy zombies, especially stories written by women that have both strong female and male characters. There was the odd strange turn of phrase or word usage, but it didn’t bother me much. As for the narration, some of the voices were well done (Dylan, Saul) and some were horrible (Tara, Amanda). Overall I recommend this series if you are into zombies!

One of the best audible books I have ever listened to!

First of all the story is fabulous. You hear the perspectives of three different people but it’s very easy to follow and well defined. The characters have a lot of depth both the “good” ones and the “bad”. The author obviously did a lot of research and the story threads throughout are very believable.
Secondly, the narrator is perfect. You can definitely tell the difference between the three main perspectives easily. There are several accents that need to be pulled off well and this narrator does them all. I highly recommend this book at all levels!

Story
After the Final War, after the appearance of the Bug aliens and their enforced peace, Shining Smith is still alive, still doing business from the old scrapyard bequeathed to her by her father. But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. Until the only friend left from her previous life shows up, dead, in the back of a scrapped Tesla warplane. Clutched in her cold fingers is a note to Shining - warning her of a coming attack.

Good story! Bad narration.....
Reviewed: 01-15-20
The story itself was good. It was a little confusing at first due to the slow world building, but it was interesting enough for me to keep listening. I enjoyed the main character, Shining Smith, and her warbot, kitty and AI friends. As the story progressed the world unfolded well and became clear. The narration was another thing altogether. I did not like it at all. Her cadence and inflection was horrible and irritating, especially for Shining. She did a couple of the accents well, such as for Matteo, Gomez and Jolene, but Jaeger’s was just bad. If the story hadn’t been as good at it was, I would not have continued listening, especially as it was free. If it had been a written book, I would have enjoyed it more as I could have imagined a better voice!

Story
Erica Page, the protagonist of Amazon and WayForward’s upcoming game Til Morning’s Light, is already sick of the boring New England town that her family now calls home. There’s nothing to do in beige Leisterville except browse the Internet, update her blog, and investigate “supernatural phenomena” with her weird new friend Angie. However, when their research yields more-than-convincing results and tragedy strikes, it’s up to Erica to enter the mysterious mansion on Hamilton Road and discover the truth about her new hometown.

Great introduction to a fun game!

I read this as an introduction to a game called till morning light which is also on iTunes App Store. It was great to get a background on the character before playing the game. What fun!
