I wanted a fun adventure story, but got a sermon. There’s a lot to like about this book, but the further you get into it, the more it turns into heavy handed Christian proselytizing.

The historical sections are quite engaging. The contemporary section is both insipid and far-fetched.

I'd probably listen to Juliet Stevenson read cereal boxes (she's that good), but what a delight when she's reading such a wonderful book. Intricate, interlocking narratives woven together through terrific imagery. Enchanting.
