Through the detailed accounts in this book, it is clear that the two investigative journalists did a great job of factually approaching their stories on Trump, Weinstein, and Kavanaugh. Although the Weinstein story was a central part of this book, the story and message is greater. This book pays tribute to the women who had the courage to tell their stories about assault, harassment, and rape. It’s an important part of our history and ending the book with Christine Blasey-Ford’s story is a great reminder that although our society has made progress, we still have a ways to go. Thank you Megan and Jodi for documenting the stories of these brave women.

This story is an important story, giving voice to anyone who has been objectified or violated in their lives. Chanel's words are incredibly articulate in sharing her story. Admittedly, her voice for narration is quite flat, but I remind myself that she isn't a narrator and was thrust into this life.

Thank you for sharing your story so bravely with the world.

I have listened to many audiobooks and have had issues with few of them. Although I appreciated Rachel Hollis narrating the book personally and her narration was good, I found it difficult to engage with the content. I appreciated her stories but found the overall tone preachy and there is an overarching religious philosophy to the book that I had not expected. I should have done my research, if I had I would have found out that she is a preacher's daughter hence the tone and content. The section where she emphasizes (over and over) how God has created you to be this way was contradictory to the message of empowerment. But it was so highly recommended on here that I just took the rating at face value. Also, there are some premises that I find just naïve and unrealistic. For example, she speaks about being focused on your dream and envisioning what it will be like to achieve the dream one day, and while I agree that is important, there is no reference to how to developing a plan to work towards the dream. I listened to the whole book because I kept expecting it to get better but unlike the thousands on here, I didn't find it inspiring or insightful.

The story is well written and develops an understanding for the deeply entrenched issues that create the cultural issues that still reside today.

My only issue is with how the narrator narrates the voice of Hailey. For a book that is trying to promote an awareness for racial issues and combat racial stereotypes, the narrator makes Hailey as a white girl sound like she's from Clueless.

Autobiographical books should be narrated by the author

I really enjoy Kelly Oxford's writing for its witticisms, candour, and Canadian references. Stories in this collection included all of that but it felt wrong to not have her narrate. The narrator isn't awful but she mispronounced "toque" which is ironic in the Canadian joke context that it was used. Also when the author references makes fun of her own voice it would be nice to hear it. I love autobiographical books by comedic voices like NPH, Mindy Kaling, Amy Shumer, Trevor Noah, etc. And they all narrated themselves which made the audio book more appealing than reading the actual paper book

I don't know what it is but I found it really difficult to finish this book. I still haven't. I've started the book twice now and keep rewinding because I get so bored I zone out. I think the story is an amazing one and interests me. I was expecting a strong plot but the author goes back and forth between historical data (i.e. stats and facts) and the story of the women. I find it difficult to pay attention as it deters from the storyline. Also the narrator reads this story quite matter of fact and monotone which would be ok except the book is boring as it is. I have over 20 audible books and this is one of two I can't seem to finish.

Would you listen to China Rich Girlfriend again? Why?

No. I would probably buy the written version

What did you like best about this story?

The story is good. I fell in love with the characters from the first book - Crazy Rich Asians. The author does a good job developing the personalities and I can relate to the Asian nuances in his characters and storylines.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator for this second book is horrible. Her characters are inconsistent in their accents.

At times, she gives Rachel and the American Chinese characters this strange southern accent. First of all the characters are from California and New York, not the Southern states. Secondly, she makes Rachel sound like a red neck bimbo. Although her Australian and English accents are decent, her portrayal of Rachel and Nick is so distracting, I would rather read the book instead of listening to it.

Any additional comments?

For the third book, please bring back the first narrator.

What disappointed you about Under the Tuscan Sun?

The narration was horrible. This was the first book I could not finish. I thought it would be a joy to have the author read her own book but not only was she very monotone, at times it felt like she had difficulty reading out her own words. Quite a few times I tuned her out and then decided that continuing on with be pointless.

What made the experience of listening to Crazy Rich Asians the most enjoyable?

This is an easy "read". The author did a good job relaying crazy antics of the wealthy in Singapore in a humourous way. The characters were developed well and with the imagery that is created, I can imagine the setting and scenes. I have listened to this book a few times again, can't wait for the sequel and movie.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Lynn Chen?

There are complaints on here about the narration, I didn't think the narration was bad. There were a few Chinese words that I thought were actually pronounced differently in Cantonese but perhaps the narrator speaks a different dialect.
