Love me some Mel Robbins. Entertaining and extremely helpful book. I’ve listened to all of her other books and her podcast, so this book was a little repetitive, but there were still very insightful ideas in here that made me glad I finished it and will change my life forever

Once again, David Sedaris brings together a collection of essays so uproariously funny and profoundly moving that his legions of fans will fall for him all over again. He tests the limits of love when Hugh lances a boil from his backside, and pushes the boundaries of laziness when, finding the water shut off in his house in Normandy, he looks to the water in a vase of fresh cut flowers to fill the coffee machine.

Great, lasting ideas that overpower the book’s flaws
Reviewed: 01-07-24
I am a huge fan of David Sedaris and am a pretty newly baptized member of a Presbyterian church. When both of those came up in conversation, my aunt recommended Anne Lamott. This was the first piece of hers I’ve read/listened to and while it wasn’t as packed with the dark humor of Sedaris, her book gave me hope and changed my way of thinking. I will definitely be reading more of her work, but I’m not sure if I’ll keep with audiobooks because her voice made it hard to listen to for a long period of time. She is a very bright, funny, creative and inspiring writer.

I’ve been trying to make my through all of the Laura Lippman novels. There hasn’t been a book I wouldn’t recommend, but I almost didn’t finish this one. I wanted to just knock it out, hoping that all of the dragging details would lead to an exciting ending, but it was so very disappointing. Still a great author!

I didn’t realize how much I needed this book. I recently went through a break up and though not particularly religious, found myself praying to God begging for help. I gave this book a try, and it has changed my outlook and has left me feeling hopeful. Toni is genuine and strong, and I believe everyone could use her in their life, despite their religious views.
