Narrator was awful 😞
Reviewed: 08-14-24
The story was very good. I'd listened to another title by this author and was excited about the plot twist her stories have. This story did not disappoint! However, I almost didn't listen because the narrator was horrible.

Story
What is there about a dying church that brings glory to God? Mark Clifton's convicting answer is "nothing". Because a local church is intended to represent the work of God in a community, when that church "loses it saltiness", not only is God's work pictured as irrelevant in that community, but also dishonor and disrepute may well become associated with God's name as a result.

Good Points, but very Exclusive toward women
Reviewed: 10-13-22
Informative, but very misogynistic to have been written in the 20-teens. Throughout the book, church leaders, pastors, planters and re-planters were only referred to as male.
i.e. young men, men, he/him/his. The only times women were referenced were as congregants or pastor's wives. It's very unfortunate that, still, in this day and age women are not recognized as 1st class citizens, even in the Kingdom of God. As a female Pastor, it made this book very difficult to listen to. I did, however, get through it, and even took a few points with me for revitalizing a dying church.

Awesome Story! Amazing Storytelling! And I cried through the whole last chapter.... I couldn't get enough of this story. There was so much pain that I wanted it to end... but always so much hope that I couldn't wait to hear what happened next.

Good Story, Bad Story Telling...

I think I really enjoyed the story itself.
The narration was bad at best. It seemed as though she struggled to read ahead through the full sentences to understand how it should be read. I would've preferred reading it myself.
