About this listen

A heart-wrenching saga set on three continents, over four decades, Truth, by Omission seamlessly intertwines factual events of recent times in Africa with a compelling set of contemporary fictional circumstances.

After surviving a desperate childhood of lawlessness and violence, Alfred Olyontombo makes his way to a refugee camp while Rwanda's genocide rages behind him. His knowledge of local languages catches the attention of an idealistic young doctor who opens the door to a whole new life for Alfred. Seizing the chance, he moves forward, embracing the American dream and becoming a respected physician married to a successful lawyer in Colorado. However, his new life comes to a screeching halt when the transgressions of his youth come back to haunt him.

With his future hanging in the balance, Alfred is forced to face the misdeeds - and the nemesis - he'd hoped time had buried forever. But is it too late for the truth to matter? And which version of the truth can save him?

A amazing story. I could not stop listening. It is about survival, love, forgiveness and finding meaning when all is lost.

A must read!

Awesome Story! Amazing Storytelling! And I cried through the whole last chapter.... I couldn't get enough of this story. There was so much pain that I wanted it to end... but always so much hope that I couldn't wait to hear what happened next.

I Cried Through the Whole Last Chapter

This is a great story, very powerful and tense. It is told in exactly the right order, as it jumps back and forth a bit in time as it references the past and it’s meaning and importance of events that have led to the present. The main character is developed and raw and open, and it’s no struggle to feel deeply for him and his past and how it has shaped who he has become. There’s a lot of emotions to deal with and they’re all beautiful and powerful. And the narration exceeded expectations, Dion Graham crushed it.

Quite a moving tale

With out doubt, probably the best story I have listened to in years. This is a hard listen, but so authentic and so well written and so well narrated that I have to place it in the category of best book of 2021!!! I will be purchasing copies of this in hardback and giving them
to my family and friends who are not
Audible members. This book deserves a prize!

Very well presented book with a fascinating story. Unfortunately conflict in mid Africa still abounds.

Excellent all around. What an achievement. I couldn’t help but think about the realities of conflict in many nations right now

Stupendous

This was one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. Having traveled to Rwanda and visited some of the genocide sites/memorial, I continue to be horrified by the brutality that occurred there (and many other places!). This story and narration were excellent. I was surprised to learn it was Mr. Beamish’s first novel.

Wow!

. This was an incredible journey of a boy forced into manhood long before his fragile young years would dictate; A story filled with unspeakable tragedy, impossible growth and unimaginable redemption.

One Great Story

I personally feel that trauma has no limit on how deep it can be inside an individual. Listening to and visualizing all of what was painted in this book made me experience things I never have before. It makes me once again say to myself that there is always someone else who may have things worse than I seemingly do.

All forms of evil will never prevail over the powers of positivity and willingness to visualize and live a great life.

By the way, Dion Graham is one of the best narrators that I listen to. Thanks for a great listen.

I've reevaluated what all I've thought I've known.
