Story
What do you say to someone who has been diagnosed with a terminal disease? How can you help someone who knows they are dying or people who have just said good-bye for the last time to someone they love? You want to help, but how can you be sure you aren't doing more harm than good? What should you say about God, heaven, or prayer? Author Patrick Shawn Riecke answers these questions after 20 years of helping the sick, dying, and grieving. You will encounter the best ways to talk with people in what he calls Phase Three - life's most difficult moments.

There are 3 chapters in the physical book that are not read as part of the audiobook

Wish this was a full reading of the actual book especially because the chapters that were omitted were the most interesting

Story
How do we make social justice the most pleasurable human experience? How can we awaken within ourselves desires that make it impossible to settle for anything less than a fulfilling life? Author and editor Adrienne Maree Brown finds the answer in something she calls “pleasure activism,” a politics of healing and happiness that explodes the dour myth that changing the world is just another form of work. Drawing on the black feminist tradition, she challenges us to rethink the ground rules of activism.

Content is great, but the chapters are out of order
Reviewed: 02-11-24
I have a disability and find it way easier to read books when I listen along to the audio. The chapters from section 2 on are out of order and I have to pause the audio to find the right chapter to read along with. Content is great, but if you’re reading along to the book beware there’s a lot of pausing

Story
In an age of confusion, fear, and loss, Hanif Abdurraqib's is a voice that matters. Whether he's attending a Bruce Springsteen concert the day after visiting Michael Brown's grave, or discussing public displays of affection at a Carly Rae Jepsen show, he writes with a poignancy that resonates profoundly. In essays that have been published by the New York Times, MTV, and Pitchfork, among others—Abdurraqib uses music and culture as a lens through which to view our world so that we might better understand ourselves, and in so doing proves himself a bellwether for our times.

Story
For the majority of people, the ability to visualize images - such as a sunrise - seems straightforward and can be accomplished "on demand". But, for potentially some two percent of the population, conjuring up an image in one’s mind’s eye is not possible; attempts to visualize images just bring up darkness. Although identified back in the 19th century, aphantasia remained under the radar for more than a century, and it was not until recently that it has been rediscovered and reexamined.

It’s incredibly repetitive.

It is insufferably repetitive. I appreciate that the author tried to have many people talk about their experiences but most of them say the same thing just slightly different and as a result, it’s unbelievably boring.

If you read along with a book, don't bother
Reviewed: 12-13-20
This audiobook has MAJOR parts missing from the text version. I prefer to read along with the physical book as a listen to the audiobook and this was pointless. There is so much missing, it's like reading a different book.
