Story
Yellowstone National Park was once home to an abundance of wild wolves - but park rangers killed the last of their kind in the 1920s. Decades later, the rangers brought them back, with the first wolves arriving from Canada in 1995. This is the incredible true story of one of those wolves.

The author did a fantastic job weaving a compelling narrative based on years of observation. It got a little dry midway for me but was well worth sticking with it! Already downloaded the next in this series.

I did not enjoy it at all. Stupid premise and predictable storyline. I did really like the narrators though.

Story
Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

Enjoyed it

I really enjoyed this story. The setting/context reminded me of my own childhood playing in the woods. Careful reading the reviews, some people included spoilers in their reviews by referencing real life cases it reminded them of.

Dark story that sticks with you
Reviewed: 08-30-23
I really enjoyed the late 70s coming of age context for this story. It’s dark and heavy and not as filled with “surprise twists” as I’m used to but I enjoyed it. Surprised to see reviews complaining about the narrator. I thought she did a really nice job.

The story was slow and the characters were frustrating. The high pitched, sugary sweet, breathy narration of Victoria was absolutely unbearable though. It made me want to stop listening multiple times.

But this morning is different: Last night, Elle and her oldest friend, Jonas, crept out the back door into the darkness and had sex with each other for the first time, all while their spouses chatted away inside. Now, Elle will have to decide between the life she has made with her genuinely beloved husband and the life she always imagined she would have had with her childhood love.

Some good descriptive prose but other sections are written in a way that made me cringe. Also just not enough of a plot and no characters to really root for. I also prefer a more clear ending. Overall, not for me.
