Story
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

Felt like a witch’s version of Mary Poppins. The narration was good and the story was charming :)

Felt a little like Romeo and Juliet with a very dark spin

I wanted to like this, but I just never got into it. The story is choppy to start and I’m not really convinced by their hate for each other at first and then their attraction. Also, whenever the female character laughs it’s like nails on a chalkboard. It doesn’t get spicy until almost the end and then it’s 0 to 100. Hard to keep up and it was a bit over the top IMO. But degrading sex talk is not really my cup of tea so I could be an outlier here.

I love how Sarah J. Maas blended ACOTAR in to the ending and looking forward to its continuation with the hints dropped. As far as the Crescent City conclusion, I thought the ending was the HEA I expected. Overall the series is pretty good but I could go the rest of my life without hearing the word alpha-hole again. Also bugs me that they often use the full names of the characters. Like, I think I got it, there are a million pages in this book. I know full well her name is Bryce Adelaide Quinlan.
Okay, rant over!!

The narration is fantastic! This is a heavy finale for MP (unless there’s another from her perspective in the works?!) We see the truly vulnerable sides to BJ and Magnolia. It’s gut wrenching, poignant and also had me laughing at loud at times. I have grown to love these characters and I’m chomping at the bit for Daisy’s version. I’m so glad BJ and Parks get their HEA!!!

Gave it a shot, not for me

The story is so long and so boring. Hours of them playing house, weird bath scenes, etc. Also, the mix of everyday language with this fantasy/magic world was weird. Narration was interesting with Orpheus’s voice being spot on for what you would imagine. I never want to hear his appendage being described ever again though.

The story felt slow and repetitive. Some of the narrators voices were interesting (I.e. the singing parts). I was hoping for a little more character depth but maybe the lack of it is the point with how Snow presents in the Hunger Games? This was a miss for me.

Compelling story about loss and grief and find purpose and fulfillment in spite of it. The story weaves through the voices of a 30 yr old man at a crossroads, a woman in her 70s and a Giant Pacific Octopus at an aquarium. Their paths cross and it’s remarkable ;). Their journey has its up and downs but ends with all of them finding their place. Great listen! The voices and performance were great too!

The female narrator’s voice is very slow. Even on quicker speed. Male narrator was great. I liked the story, just felt their dialogue was a little over the top, melodramatic at times. Also think it’s a bit far-fetched that they could just pick up where they left off after a year apart, but I don’t think Romance novels are meant to be super realistic and that’s why we read them 😆
