Story
Some people are simply asking to be murdered. Rosemary Lillywhite has had a lot on her tea tray: murder, intrigue, and three men vying for her affections. When her mother, Evelyn, calls and pleads with her to help put on a country garden club event, Rosemary begrudgingly agrees. After all, she can't leave poor Vera to her own devices, not when Evelyn has so staunchly objected to the match between Vera and Rosemary's brother, Frederick.

I love the narrator. She really did a nice job. Gets you in the mood with a British accent. Very smooth reading. I have listened to one other book in this series so I was familiar with the main characters. Fun plot and interesting characters, very enjoyable. I received an early audio-copy of the audiobook, and this review contains my own opinion.

I liked the narrator very much. The writing is easy to get into and an enjoyable plot. I have not listened to or read any of the other books in the series, but I had no problem getting into the story. The main characters & supporting characters are fun. I like everything about the book. I tend to listen to my books more than read them and this was a perfect listening story!

Story
It’s a slow, steamy summer in New Orleans’ French Quarter, but Franki Amato is busy planning her bridal shower—that is, until a hit-and-run outside a coffee shop gets her PI senses percolating. The victim is linked to crimes at a fancy society wedding in a haunted hotel where Franki’s fiancé’s family is staying. As for the java joint, it’s straight out of a hardboiled detective movie, and there’s something hinky about its walnut liqueur coffee.

I listened to this as an audiobook on audible. The author was kindly giving away some free book codes for her audiobooks to her readers on her email list.
The narrator for the series is fabulous!! She does the voices very well. It’s so fun listening to her. I am highly entertained and do a lot of laughing throughout the book. At the end of the audiobook there was a section of bloopers and they were very funny! I don’t know how you can narrate a funny book without laughing!
I am a big fan of the author from the very first book. I’m not sure how I came across these books, but I’m sure glad I did. They are well written with fun details about New Orleans and whatever the story is about. There is romance, PI business, quirky characters and hilarious Italian family dynamics!
We have slowly been getting close to Franki’s wedding and excited about her romance with Bradley. Of course her Nona and mother want to move things along! And everybody else wants to interfere with the wedding plans.
The mystery was fun and all the people Franki runs into as she is doing her detecting. I really should visit New Orleans!
It would be so fun if this series was turned into TV series or a movie. I truly love all the characters. I appreciate an author who can be so creative with a storyline and making characters so distinctive and real.

Story
At long last, lady detective Rosemary Lillywhite and her best friend Vera are on their way to a much-needed holiday, and they’re not traveling alone. Rosemary’s impish brother, Frederick, on sabbatical from work at their father’s company, wouldn't dream of missing out on a tropical getaway—or or the chance to push his sister's buttons! To that end, Frederick invites his longtime chum—Rosemary's childhood crush, Desmond Cooper—along for the trip. If a little romance mends her broken heart, so much the better.

I have listen to all three books in the series on Audible. I love the narrator. Her voice and accent are very distinct and add to the ambience of the novel. This is not a very long book, but it was refreshing, light and interesting. Nice to take a vacation in Cyprus when along comes a murder! I like the interactions between the main characters. I also like the time period in the 1920s. It was nicely written and enjoyable.

During the five years Rosemary has lived next door to Dr. Redberry and his wife, they've barely exchanged more than occasional pleasantries. So when she starts hearing raised voices through the adjoining townhouse walls, she can only guess that their marriage is in trouble. It's none of Rosemary's business, so she pretends not to notice, but when she sees Mrs. Redberry sobbing uncontrollably she can't simply turn a blind eye.

I listened to this book as an audiobook. I really enjoyed the narrator. She had a lovely accent that fits in with the British setting!
This is the second book in the series. I’m getting to know the main characters. The writing is easy to get into. It is clean writing with no swearing or anything graphic detailed.
The plot is easy to follow along with and was very engaging. Always fun to read a cozy murder mystery and try to figure things out.
If you like this time period, this is a pleasant & easily immersive read. Very interesting about the dental office and how they worked on teeth back then!
I am looking forward to the next book!

I have read the author’s other books and really enjoy the world she has created. I really love short stories, and these are exceptional. Kind of like fairytales but with little darker twist to them. The narrator was excellent giving the stories emotion & drama, telling them very well!

I love listening to audiobooks. They are convenient! I can just carry around my phone and put my ear buds in. I can take a walk or be cooking in the kitchen.
I love this time period for the setting. This is a new character for me to get to know. Also, the author is new for me as well. The writing is easy to understand with a plot that moves along smoothly. The mystery was very interesting. I was surprised at the end! I hope to continue on with the series. I was given a free copy of the audiobook by the author. I am writing a review that is of my own opinion.

I have listened to almost all of the books in this series read by the same narrator. She does the best job ever! This book has something going on all the time with quirky characters to enjoy. I found myself laughing out loud as I was listening while taking a walk or cooking in the kitchen! Very fun and enjoyable! Can’t wait for the wedding! I love the Italian family dynamics & of course the romance. The mystery was a good one! I don’t know much about Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but it was fun to get a look behind the scenes! I received a gift code from the author, and was delighted to write a review that is completely my own opinion.

Good information about social skills
Reviewed: 02-02-23
The basic premise of this audiobook is that it is good for children to learn social life skills.
There are benefits to having good social skills! They help children learn to get along and work together. Also helpful for academic achievement throughout the school years and after!
Other benefits are reduction of stress and loneliness. Improvement academically and later on career achievement.
Social skills start at birth practically! At different ages, milestones are met with new skills common for that age group. These are outlined in the audiobook.
There’s guidance in this audiobook on how to teach your children different tips to help them. It’s really stressed that it is good to have good role modeling in a variety of experiences for your child to be able to grow in this area. And of course discussing as a parent with your child how they are feeling and encouraging appropriate behavior at their age level.
I like how this audiobook is geared to help the parent be involved and aware of helping their child gain good social skills.
Each chapter in lined up with an introduction to a social skill like listening, problem solving, empathy, body language, sharing, coping skills, manners, self control and communicating.
Each chapter breaks down the topic. Next are things you can do with your child to develop new skills like hands on type activities or games! A chapter summary follows at the end of most of the chapters.
The narrator is very positive in her narration and upbeat. I enjoyed listening to her narration.
This is a very comprehensive approach gaining social skills for children 3 to 10 years old. Each of the nine social skills are addressed in a separate chapter. The audiobook is easy to understand. Lots of helpful tools with the activities that are age-appropriate for different age groups. A lot of good teaching and information for the parent/adult about each of the 9 social skills. I would highly recommend this audiobook!
