I feel like it is always an odd choice not to have narrators stick to a character voice throughout the book. Depending on who starts the chapter, you will hear their version of a characters voice/demeanor. It kept taking me out of the story. I love a good sexy villain, but these characters were just not engaging. I kept going, waiting to find what all the hype is about. I just can't buy into it. The whole story always feels rushed to the next spicy scene, but it feels like nothing happens in between at the same time. The spice is boring too. I'm even more disappointed that I can't return this.

started for the spice, stayed for the story

whew. it's dark and spicy. the storyline is so compelling. I could not stop once I started. check your triggers. there is assault, stalking, murder, plenty of violence, and sex trafficking and sacrifice, including children. it's not for the faint of heart, but you already know that if you're considering this read. I loved it, my husband loved it, we will definitely read again. narration was awesome!

this series was my first dive into this genre. I can't stress enough, nothing is left to the imagination when reading about the main character's time trying to survive sex trafficking. But, that isn't the entire book. If this story wasn't so compelling, I may have put it down. I am glad I stuck it out. This series was a ride, and one I'll likely come back to again. I highly recommend. The narration was awesome!

silly, in a good way

its silly, quirky, and fun, exactly what you would expect if you are a fan of Welcome to Nightvale. not very long, and the story mostly stays in its lane in terms of trying to tell a story, in a place where nothing makes sense.

I just dont get it

It was hard to follow, so many characters were introduced, just to go nowhere. I loved the premise, and the stories of how the gods came to America, but that is probably as much as I could appreciate about it. I had to take a break in the middle just cause it wasn't holding my attention. I only finished it off determination, waiting for a payoff that never came.

silly spooky stories. good narrator. fun for younger crowd. it never gets too scary. I think its more for the younger listeners

narrator sounds like a robot

it took me forever to realize that the narrator was telling stories from multiple peoples perspective. I had a hard time focusing because he reads like he's reading an essay in front of a class of his peers, quickly and without emotion. the history lessons are neat but he does get off topic to talk about his socialite life a bit too much for me.
