About this listen

The iconic anthology series of horror tales that's now a feature film!

Walking corpses, dancing bones, knife-wielding madmen, and narrow escapes from death - they're all here in this chilling collection of ghost stories, collected and retold by folklorist Alvin Schwartz. Brought to spine-tingling, flesh-crawling life by acclaimed Broadway actor (and master ghoul) George S. Irving, these horrific tales are guaranteed to raise goosebumps. Let the faint of heart beware.

Pull up a chair, find a hand to hold, and prepare to be horrified.

George S. Irving was a legend of being a famous, award-winning comedian and actor! The narration and the music fit together! In More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the music was written and played with Korg M1, and when I purchased Korg M1, because of the harp from Tales of Phantasia for the SNES, the instruments from the audiobook were included, like the Waterphone from "Somebody Fell from Aloft". By the way, my favorite stories so far were "The Cat in a Shopping Bag" and "Clinkity-Clink". The narrations in the two stories cracked me up with his witty, humorous voice! The story that freaked me out was "Harold". That kept millions of children awake, because of what happened. The one thing that traumatized little kids was "The Dream", because of that woman. Ugh! But still, wonderful audiobook, yet frightening illustrations! I even watched the movie version of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Congratulations, Guillermo del Toro! You are the new H.R. Giger; I am now blind!

It's a wonderful (dark) world!

I loved hearing it from George Irving!! Sounded awesome and the stories were just as I remembered them. The only reason I docked a star is cause it was missing a few stories including my favorite, The Girl Who Stood On The Grave.

It was Amazing!!!

I grew up reading these books and I absolutely loved them! still just as creepy as I remembered them being.

some ove the music they have playing is a bit louder than the Narrator, and it's hard to hear what is said.
but over all 10/10!

I highly recommend owning physical copies of this collection purposely for the illustrations!

spooky

While most people say how nostalgic the stories made them feel - as they should, I'm 27 and I grew up with the books -, I wan to mention how much fun George Irving sounded like he was having as he recorded the audiobooks. He made the stories fun to listen to, and I couldn't stop smiling as he sang both versions of 'The Hearse Song'. His enthusiasm really brought the stories to life all over again, and made it so wonderful to listen to while I played video games or the like. I might break the replay button on this one.

George Irving had fun with this, didn't he?
