Story
With his work in Montana completed now that the Callahan-Warren feud has ended in marriage rather than bloodshed, Degan Grant sets out for California because it is far away from the home he wants to forget - until the US Marshal who saved his life calls in a favor. All Degan has to do is apprehend three outlaws on the marshal's list and turn them over to the law. Easy enough, he figures, for a man no one wants to tangle with. But then a bold young woman crosses his path.

Great story & fantastic narrator!
Reviewed: 07-13-22
Westerns are not usually my thing, but this was one of the most enjoyable books I’ve listened to. I was so impressed by Johanna Lindsey’s first book in this series, I wanted to try the 2nd. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this story as much or the different narrator, but my every expectation was far surpassed! I loved everything about the story and the performance by Tad Branson!
I’ll probably listen to this one again soon, but I’ll also be on the lookout for more books by this author and narrator!

A many-layered story at Versailles.
Reviewed: 05-30-22
I’ve been to Paris, but not Versailles. I’m hoping for trip there in what’s left of my life. I’ve read several books about various gardeners at Versailles, so the summary of this book caught my attention. It was so worth the listen!
The story practically reads like a memoir, and the narrator’s voice is mesmerizing! It’s not a fast-paced adventure story, though a mystery slowly unfolds. It is a story to be slowly drunk in to be savored and appreciated.

Wonderfully absorbing!

I’ve listened to 2 books in a row written by Johanna Lindsey and already consider myself a fan! They were set in different time periods and countries, and both extremely well done.
Unlike many romance novels, her characters have real depth. Her stories are well-written and long enough for truly satisfying plot development. I don’t want her novels to end. I become very attached to the characters and their stories!
This one is beautifully narrated by Meredith Mitchell, doing both male and female characters justice in her rendering.
If you are interested in romance without all the explicit sexual details, this is an absorbing tale!

Never have I read such a deeply moving Pride and Prejudice variation that had me so full of angst. The story swings from great joy to tremendous pain and sorrow more than once. Listening to this book I went from extreme anxiety to great relief with each twist of the plot.
Joana Starnes has written a unique and emotional novel, and Stevie Zimmerman narrates it splendidly, as always.

No one in the book is entirely perfect and no one is completely evil. The goodness of each person is shown in degrees. Love of all types is plentiful and beautifully demonstrated! It was lovely listening to this story unfold!

Story
When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

Delightful and so very well written and performed!

One of the best books I’ve listened to! The story has some of everything: interesting human relationships between genders and across ages, as well as imperfect characters that seem real. There is adventure, deep friendships, and a bit of romance, all without cliches. Beth Moran has created a fresh and refreshing story!
To make things even better, Helen Keeley has done an outstanding job narrating. Her voice sounds a lot like Kate Winslet: interesting, enthusiastic, crisp, and clear! She does male voices just as well as female voices. They are each so believable I never felt confused or lost.
What a truly delightful experience!

I don’t typically read westerns but this one caught my attention. I liked the rich, strong female and male characters that seemed so real. Some have been hurt in one way or another, but all are strong. The plot is interesting and insightful regarding illness (mental and physical) and conditions of early mental asylums.
Wonderful story by Sarah M Eden! Perfectly narrated by Kirsten Potter!

Story
Benedict Fairburn does not quite need his ailing great-aunt's fortune, especially since he'll have to marry to get it. His family, however, thinks otherwise - as do many of the eligible ladies in London - and the pressure is mounting. An embarrassment of attentions fill Benny's time, but the young lady he prefers roundly dislikes him. Claire Dalton, cousin to one of Benedict's oldest friends, is too busy debuting in Society to pay much attention to the Fairburn boy who once insulted her past bearing.

Pleasant story.

Pleasant historical romance by C. E. Murphy. I enjoyed the voice of Morag Sims. My only complaint was that there seemed to be too many characters too keep track of, particularly too many “lads” (a male group of friends). It was challenging to keep them all straight while listening and posed an additional challenge for the narrator. On the whole though it was an enjoyable story. I particularly loved the manservant character!

I’ve read 3 books in this series and enjoyed all! I particularly enjoy the character of Jasper, and find the narrator does a great job with both male and female voices! Each novel has a very unique plot. I was so glad that this story pulled the family characters from the first two books back together again and still added new characters. Both of the lead characters in this book are quick and witty and made this very entertaining to listen to!
