About this listen

Paris and the Palace of Versailles have always meant a lot to TV producer Lexie. Her grandma Viv spent a year there, but her adventures and memories were never discussed, and Lexie has long wondered why they were a family secret.

When work presents the perfect excuse to spend springtime in Versailles, Lexie delves into Viv’s old diaries and scrapbooks, and with the help of handsome interpreter Ronan, she is soon learning more about the characters that tend to the magnificent gardens, now and in the past.

In amongst the beauty and splendour of the French countryside, a story of lost love, rivalry and tragedy unfolds. Can Lexie and Ronan right the wrongs of the past, and will France play its tricks on them both before Lexie has to go home? Will this truly be a springtime to remember?

Let Lucy Coleman sweep you away with this perfect feel-good love story. Perfect for fans of Holly Martin, Sue Moorcroft and Heidi Swain.

The story line, character development, and descriptions bring the story to life. I was drawn in immediately, listening every chance I got. Fun, romantic, interesting. It has made me want to visit Versailles.

I'm so glad I listened for myself! I read a few chapters trying not to fall in love with the characters yet (lol) and I heard what she heard (and it rhymes with), "Calm Down". Though it was a little hard to hear, so I decided to press on until I heard another. What I found was an awesome read about life, love, family, friends, neighbors, old love and brand new love and the list goes on. I always thought it might be nice to travel to Paris, but now I actively WANT to go. OH! And BTW ... there never was a swear in this book. I went and actually read it to make sure. She did actually say, "Calm down". Lucy... if you ever read these, Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! It's so amazing to be able to listen or read Romance/Romantic Comedy without being bombarded with swears or any of the variations of the they use the Lords name as a swear!✌💜🙂

Such a Great Book! I loved it! FYI - NO Swears

I’ve been to Paris, but not Versailles. I’m hoping for trip there in what’s left of my life. I’ve read several books about various gardeners at Versailles, so the summary of this book caught my attention. It was so worth the listen!

The story practically reads like a memoir, and the narrator’s voice is mesmerizing! It’s not a fast-paced adventure story, though a mystery slowly unfolds. It is a story to be slowly drunk in to be savored and appreciated.

A many-layered story at Versailles.

A cute little storyline of inspiration, hope and to forgiveness. I would read it again.

I just don’t think this was my cup of tea. I don’t really care about plants or gardening, so that part wasn’t very interesting to me. It’s not a bad book and by the end I was at least vol with finishing it. I feel bad though, because it’s well written. Anyway, try it out if you love gardens!

A bit slow for me

I submit stared reviews but never written but I felt this story was so beautifully written and told that it was necessary for me to write something.. At first I was afraid it would be mundane or boring, about plantings at Versailles but it was so much more, the way the author wove the lives together was seamless.. I will be seeking out more books by this author and narrator.

A beautiful story told with a beautiful voice

I am glad I kept listening, because the story is a good one with interesting plot twists. There are places where descriptions go on and on, and I almost gave up on it. It is more plot with fewer descriptions in the second half of the book.

Good story, lots of descriptions

I wanted to love this book but found the plot line incredibly boring. The description of Versailles was very pretty but otherwise it was completely predictable and there wasn’t hardly any depth to it. Character development was weak and nothing made you truly care about the people. I’ve really enjoyed her books in the past but this one fell flat.

Disappointing

I listened to this tale because it was included in the free premium library. The start of it was such a tale of time in France that I thought I’d become bored. But thought the description of the time spent in France often made me bored, the love story and narration of in-depth character kept my interest. The story wound a magical, historical tale, that made me keep listening as time went by. I ended up listening without pause and was so grateful for the experience. Surprisingly, I’m still entranced, after the end.

Easy and unassuming
