It was good but not gripping
Reviewed: 03-02-24
I honestly was not even sure what was happening, it switched character views and so I couldn’t tell what was happening or who was talking for a minute. It didn’t say chapters either so there was no telling if it had switched or not. The story was good over all and the reader was great. But not well put together. I think it’s a good casual read but I didn’t get into the story as I had hoped I would.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

I was a bit un-interested at the beginning but also interested. I lays out the story quite nicely, and I love the different accents. Over all it was well written and catching. I loved the ending and thought it was a good end to this wonderful story. The sisterhood is great! And I love the final ending. I do wish that maybe the ending was a tad bit different but it had a happy ending so it was amazing.

Story
The forest is my happy place. A chance to get away from my stifling apartment, the sweat of the city, a job I hate. A Sunday morning spent hiking in the woods with my dog is a dream come true...until it becomes a waking nightmare. I don't see the hole until it's too late. Then I'm at the bottom of it, staring up at the ground 12 feet above me. A stupid accident. Or was it? Because soon, someone's bringing me food and water. Someone who doesn't want me to see his face. Someone who knows what I did.

The dog lives
Reviewed: 01-24-24
I know when I started this book that I wasn’t expecting the ending. I was slightly confused on what was happening but then I figured it out. I read the reviews before hand and knew there was a twist. But I think it was pretty much what I thought was going to happen. Although i wasn’t sure if both girls were the same girl of it they were different. I also figured out with the guy was based on the voice of the reader. The twist wasn’t as big as I thought it was going to get, but I think it was very well written. Although I wish that death wouldn’t have happened. I think it would have been a bigger twist if it was faked. Also as I read I realized that once the dog wasn’t in the picture I just wanted to know if the dog was alive or dead.. it’s alive. That is the only spoiler I will fully reveal. lol. Good book well written. Definitely glad that the guy got what was coming.
