Robert Bly comes full circle even though his name is not mentioned once in the book. Thanks John Kabat-Zin. I feel honored to be the first review.

Something I struggle with is catastrophising and negative imagery. Its amazing to me that the bad things become reality. I actually feel guilt when I imagine myself in good situations. I may be a unique case... or not.

I guess I need lots of practice, which this book lays out the process in LAP and SLAP.

Good luck to everyone seeking. May you find what you've been looking for.

Nelson's life makes me appreciate my own freedom. I especially enjoyed his younger years and his overall sense of humor. When he was in prison, I felt that I was in prison with him. I am glad South Africa is free. The narrator did a fine job, and I enjoyed his African accent. Now I know The Struggle. I also did not mind, but relished the length of the book.

Main take away is that we are not alone, even though porn makes us feel isolated. Hopefully, we can turn the culture around. I consider porn as rape of the mind and it should be reclassified. I don't want to watch it, but I do and can't stop. I even watched the rape of a real young woman online. She was obviously aroused, but it was torment for her and horrific. She sat crying after it was over. In many ways I feel like this girl. I am aroused, but do not wish to be. Imagine the children of these days. Unwanted exposure to pornography should be classified as rape.

Thanks for your story Matt. I love the Irish take and accent. I've listened to this a couple times already. The wolf metaphor is solid.

I am also Christian, but not a very good one.

Right now aps are popping up where you can give gifts in exchange for a video stream. Ironically, this has created a sex trafficking haven. Specifically, the App Tango is an example. Most of the women are from third world countries making a few dollars in exchange for sexual streaming in so called "private". Way to enslave the whole world through sex. Check out the app... or don't if it's a temptation, but it's just as equal as a phenomenon as high speed internet porn.

There needs to be some serious discussion about sex trafficking and technology.

Narration a ball of cheese

I read this book when I was in my early teens. I thought I would pick it up again.

I cant get passed the narrator. His voice is cheesy. Just feels like a really bad B movie script, except as I remember the script was actually alright.

He is voicing the voice of a young boy, yet he speaks so low you would think he was some age old man. When he voices a woman, its just so cheesy and is hardly listenable, let alone believable.

I think a woman could narrate this better, just because her voice would be closer to a tenor, or the tone of young men/boys. The women's part would be more serious, naturally.

I think content wise, it was pretty interesting and engaging. I was very disgusted by the raw descriptions of the injuries, which I wasn't expecting, only making it more vivid.

Goggins over uses the word literally, when he really means figuratively, but he is no Oxford professor. I am pretty sure he doesn't care though.

I really enjoyed the parts where he is recruiting and running at the same time. It seemed really positive and a great way to live life.

I also liked how this book showed his failures as well. The swearing didn't bother me so much, but I can see why people complain. I do like the fact that he is honest, though, and addresses the issue, but it still feels like he has more room to grow. I am no better though and swear all the time.

To me, I could relate to Goggins and his tough upbringing, but his upbringing was way worse than mine, and for that I count my blessings.

The last few lines of this audiobook were absurd as Goggins talks about God. In it he states that God is all knowing, yet when he dies he wants to surpass even God's expectations. How is this even possible? If God is omniscient and infinite he sees even that, and that is accounted for in what God would see.

I understand it's all attitude, but that last part was a bit silly to me.

I will never run 100 miles, or be a seal, or do over 4000 pullups and I don't necessarily care to, but I do admire the determination and the will it took to accomplish those things, so maybe my criticisms are rendered null.

I surely have my own limitations and flaws, and for that I don't judge him. I have my own 100 mile race in my heart that needs to be run and for that I will push my comfort zone.

I don't know why I am not giving this 5 stars. Maybe my standards are too high, but I doubt this review will affect the overall rating in any significant way.

Pretty solid. Takes a while to pick up, but a very solid concept and conclusion. The author uses the word cringe a lot, a product of this decade. Ironically that word is overused and makes me cringe.

Narration is interesting, as I always love female impersonations of men. Some pauses or slight silence could have been used between scenes as I feel the story can abruptly jump to another character in the story.

I honestly thought this was sci fi, but fantasy is cool too. The story got really engaging towards the end. I wanted to rate this 4 stars, but thought what the hell. 5 it is.

I wonder if this audiobook got fake reviews. All it is, is a robotic instruction of register here, register there. There are no tips and tricks on finding products. You can not call this a business model. There are no personal insights by the author, no stories of trial and error. I felt like this book was just a cash grab. I hardly learned anything I didn't know or could figure out on my own. I knocked off a star for having the narrator read aloud https links at the end.. along with the hyphens, colons etc... I mean really? Its an audiobook and second you should do the work and present the findings of your links to your readers.

As an independent voter who has skipped the past 3 elections, I will be voting Trump 2020. Democrats are on the wrong side of American history. It is unbelievable how dystopian democratic politics have become. I was brought into this mess because my heritage is Russian, but I am just as American as anyone else as my family came here legally. I knew they were lying about Russia from the get go. I was almost sucked into the Trump hate propaganda, but in the end it only brought me to the truth. Communism ruined and silenced many people in my parent's country, not to mention murdered (executed or gulag) and I have no desire to go back to barbarism. Hillary is in a class of her own and she needs to be jailed, but if Bill's friend, Jeffrey Epstein, can be murdered in a high security prison before disclosing the names of elite pedophiles, then we are living in a much more complicated, and disturbing world than we would want to believe ourselves.
