Story
Like Kelly Kapoor on The Office, Mindy is engaged with her Indian heritage to the extent that it is fun and convenient. So apart from a tolerance for spicy foods and an appreciation for Ravi Shankar, Mindy isn’t all that Hindu. Her daughter’s Jewish godfather--TV and film’s B.J. Novak--prompts her to reconsider her religious beliefs and ask herself: How Indian do I want my daughter to be?

Fun little story
Reviewed: 10-12-20
it was interesting to learn a bit about another culture and religion. I didn't really find the jokes hilarious, but I did chuckle once or twice. It was a nice idea and I hope more actors/comedians do little stories like the ones in this collection. I will definitely check out her other stories!

Story
A genealogy test sparks a woman’s reflection on the two accounts of her life--the real one and the one she’s always told the world--in this poignant short story by Cheryl Strayed, the bestselling author of Wild. In 1964, teenage Geraldine Waters was sent away by her parents to an unwed mothers’ home, where she gave up her newborn for adoption. Ever since, she’s lived an alternative narrative. Decades later, it’s time for Geraldine to reconcile the telling of her life, to finally grieve, and to discover what happened to that part of her past that slipped away.

Living with a secret
Reviewed: 10-03-20
I was impressed. This story really caught my attention from the beginning. A secret kept an entire life, and then comes the moment to tell... I understand how many will find the ending incomplete or disappointing. To me it was perfect. It's like watching a scene that fades aways and you can already imagine what's gonna happen after that, and it's all good.

But for Pamela, there’s a surprise in store that could challenge the status quo and, against all expectations, make life interesting again.

Skip this one. The narration is good, but the story is not. It starts nice and descriptive and then it turns into something you regret wasting your time on.

Story
Miriam was raised in a society without children. To offset the devastation of climate change, state-of-the-art birth control has made daycares and playgrounds things of the past. As tempting as the government inducements are to remain child-free, Miriam’s curiosity about the people who “drop out” of society to become parents grows. When she finds a like-minded partner, she must choose between the rewarding comforts she knows and the unknowable mysteries of being a mother.

Samira did a great job narrating the book. However the actual story never caught my attention. At least it was something short to read before going to bed, but I can't say it was anything special.

Story
It looks like just another gray March morning in the tough urban district nicknamed Nowhere when seven lives converge. Any one of them could have a dark motive. Any one of them could be walking into a trap. When the fog lifts, it will all be much clearer - that a single, shattering act of violence has marked each of them forever.

It was a good short story. Didn't love it though, I guess I was expecting a bit more. Or maybe it's that I found it so annoying that the character kept bringing up his suicide attempt over and over and over again. It was a nice read, but not something I would read again.

Very good story, dreadful narration
Reviewed: 08-30-20
The story was interesting, It really caught my attention especially towards the middle/ending. However I opted for just reading the book, the narration is so dull and monotonous!! I even went back to listen to the part where "shocking" stuff happens after reading the book, and I swear even the recorded voice when you call your bank sounds more alive than this narrator. Skip the audio, read the book.
