Publisher's summary

A writer’s misguided suspicions ruined his life once before. This time he plans to prove he’s right in a New York Times bestselling author’s haunting short story of what happens when seeing is not believing.

Will, an aspiring novelist, can’t stop parsing his ex-girlfriend’s popular social media accounts for clues that her ideal new rural life with the perfect man has a dark side. After all, nobody he knows has actually seen the blissful blogger in the flesh for nearly a year. When Will draws a wary friend into his “investigation,” the real question becomes who’s truly in danger.

Lisa Unger’s Let Her Be is part of Hush, a collection of six stories, ranging from political mysteries to psychological thrillers, in which deception can be a matter of life and death. Each piece can be read or listened to in one truly chilling sitting.

Let Her Be

Second Hush short story audio and am really enjoying them. Loved the mystery and the characters. Enjoy that they are written by different authors, you can get to know more. The narration was very good.

Best in the collection

“Let Her Be” is the best short story of the Amazon’s “Hush Collection” in my opinion. I was riveted from the start, when Will, the narrator, begins the story telling us of his suicide attempt.

The attempt was a result of a tragic romantic breakup. Will is telling us of this event, while explaining that he knows he needs to get over his girlfriend. He knows he must “let her be”. She has disappeared for more than a year. She was a successful blogger, and prior to disappearing she seemed to be living the dream life with her new man.

Will entices Emily, a reluctant friend, to join him in his investigation of her disappearance. Lisa Unger has a diabolical idea of what “letting her be” really means.

Brilliant short story! I listened to the audio, narrated by Chris Andrew Ciulla. I enjoyed every minute.

Terrific

A terrific, quick read. If you have a little time to fill, this is a great book to fill it. Dark and devious. Loved that ending.

I can't imagine a better narration for this book. The performance really enhanced the story.

Meh...

It was a good short story. Didn't love it though, I guess I was expecting a bit more. Or maybe it's that I found it so annoying that the character kept bringing up his suicide attempt over and over and over again. It was a nice read, but not something I would read again.

Love it until the end... lol

good story overall - the end was abrupt and just ended. Felt it need a little more - i understand it was a short story. Was an ending you didn't see coming though... lol

Good story

Would have given 5 stars except if God’s name wasn’t taken in vain! Not sure why authors need to do this?

Excellent Short Story

I must say after reading two other novella's in the Hush Collection, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this one because I didn't really care for the other two.

I think there's an art to writing a novella because let's face it...you have to pack a punch of a full story all in a short time frame. Some people can do it and some people can't! Apparently Lisa Unger can!

The ending of the story was a bit surprising to me and kind of leaves you wondering! I don't want to say too much because there's not too much to say without giving it away, but I'll just say that I really enjoyed Let Her Be.

Chris Andrew Ciulla did an excellent job at narrating this title and being able to easily distinguish between two main characters! His female voice is not all that bad!!

Too easy

It is an okay story, but it was disappointing because I figured out the plot early on during my listening.

Whatever happened to his ex?

Let Her Be is a short about a man obsessed with his ex-girlfriend. Will is in a dark place in his life after his ex has gone missing for a year. He teams up with her friend Emily to track her last known contact.
Let Her Be is part of the Hush collection of six stories. Lisa Unger graces her readers with a haunting telling of a broken man. I followed along with the audiobook. I listened using the audible app.

I love a good suspense story

Love, suspense and a very well narrated story. I'd like to hear a full length novel by this author.
