Story
On the edge of the galaxy, a diplomatic mission to an alien planet takes a turn when the Legionnaires, an elite special fighting force, find themselves ambushed and stranded behind enemy lines. They struggle to survive under siege, waiting on a rescue that might never come. In the seedy starport of Ackabar, a young girl searches the crime-ridden gutters to avenge her father's murder; not far away, a double-dealing legionniare-turned-smuggler hunts an epic payday; and somewhere along the outer galaxy, a mysterious bounty hunter lies in wait.

If the past is prologue - what if the prologue never happened? When a team of scientists attempts to rewrite history, the story of the present turns out to have an ending they didn’t see coming. Over and over.

Story

Almost quit, glad i didn't. THE BEST PERFORMANCE!!
Reviewed: 08-24-21
I have almost quit after 2 hours, but I'm glad i haven't.
just a right amount of everything I like about good story book. Sharp and realistic characters, Plots are flawless. I really like the retrospective angle of Iraq war story and it's all folding nicely in a book inside a book.
Just didn't like the politics swirls, that's why this book will never reach the classic shelf, or my shelf in particular. I don't like when I can see authors opinions on politics are "slipping" into the story. Do it openly, or don't. Better not at all. Doesn't matter of where on political spectrum writer's mind is located. Was wondering about giving 4 stars for story, but masters, and champions deserve to be spoiled.
And to Mr Sparks- THANK YOU! Thank You! Thank You!!!!!

Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Story
As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

Wasn't disappointed. Wasn't surprised. Being close to the end I have realized Im missing something. Jack's thinking was dull, also very little humor thru out the novel. Seems like writer puts first steps in writing action novels. So... Good Luck!!!!! be waiting for next one.

Story
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

Narrator great. Outstanding performance.
But the story.....
Dragging thru some parts, not logic,
Loved Commune 1-3. Smart, fun, nice work creating all personas.
4th part (especially "bowl occupation" not so great). Anyway the whole qadlogy is interesting and worth listening (skipped a lot in 4th).
