Publisher's summary

The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?"

Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun.

We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near.

When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate.

The survivors do what is necessary.

Disappointed

First three books were great and when I heard book four was coming I thought, awesome were gonna get some closure and answers with certain characters. But sadly the story seemed drained and predictable in some aspects and in some ways no sense in others. R.C. Bray's performance really kept me pushing through. Overall a good story and worth keeping in your library...if not just to hear Gibbs.

Great story!

While a great book, not quit as good as the first three. I would buy it again and will listen to it again, but the story or something just lagged a little during parts of the book. I think time was spent trying to introduce and develop new people at the expense of the folks we already know and love. I am only writing this so you're forewarned. This book is worth every penny. And of course RC Bray was his usual bestest!

Still good just not great

Honestly, this was still a good book but it felt way rushed compared to the last 3. The ending was over in the blink of an eye.

Waiting for 6!

You know it's a gripping story when you pull into your driveway, 90F out, with ice cream in the grocery bag, and still are compelled to sit there in the vehicle with your hand over your mouth until a scene plays out. Great continuation of the storyline.

I don’t get the bad reviews!

I read the reviews on this book before using a credit for it. I absolutely loved the first 3 books and I truly loved this one too! It wrapped everything from the first 3 books up in a nice package! I would love to see a couple of more books about these survivors and where they go from here! I think that this narrator could read the phone book and I would gladly listen, great voices!

AWESOME

I've listened to many books and all of the Commune series. Book 4 was by far my favourite. I had tears in some parts and shouting in others. When a book can produce feelings, it's awesome...... Where's book 5?????

Outstanding!

This was an excellent conclusion to the Commune series. I've enjoyed the entire series, and this wraps it up nicely. I had a change of opinion on a few characters. They clearly weren't the "good guy" or "bad guy" I originally thought. Desperate people with do things they would never consider under normal circumstances. I get that. Pap was a surprise. I won't give away details, but I honestly thought Pap was a good guy with good intentions caught up in a messy situation. After this book, I was either wrong or he was more simple-minded than I thought. I'd love to know what happened to OB. Gone for good, or coming back later? The ending of this series leaves it open to the possibility of a Gibbs sequel. I'd absolutely love to see that! There were also several moments in this book that have me laughing out loud! Outstanding narration by R.C. Bray as always. Bray is one of the best. I listen to a lot of books narrated by Bray, some of them back to back. It would be easy to confuse the books and characters, but not with Bray. He tends to convey the personality of each character perfectly.
