Story
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Fun and twisty
Reviewed: 07-18-24
Don’t love the narrator - I’d read reviews that loved her, so perhaps my review was biased based on my own expectations… but the story was fun and twisty, even if I did figure out who did it earlier than I would have liked.

Story
Meet Jessica Jones: retired superhero, private investigator, loner. She tried her best to be a shiny spandex crimefighter, but that life only led to unspeakable trauma. Now she avoids that world altogether and works on surviving day-to-day in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. The morning a distraught mother comes into her office, Jessica would prefer to nurse her hangover and try to forget last night’s poor choices. But something about Amber Randall’s story strikes a chord with her. Amber is adamant that something happened to her teenage twins while they were visiting their father in the UK.

Not Lucy Foley’s usual fare
Reviewed: 06-28-24
I think this was a lovely story - with one very talented narrator, no question - but I didn’t totally know what it was about and was surprised as I found it was not going to become dark & twisty, as I expected after having read her most recent four books. So my review is biased by my surprise, I guess.
All that said, to be such a lovely story with such richly developed characters and even just a slight touch of that Foley dark & twistiness I adore so much, in such a different genre - she’s a truly gifted writer.
I genuinely cannot remember the last time I read a “romance” novel, and I didn’t have reading one anytime soon on my agenda, but this was very enjoyable.

Story
Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

SO fun, brilliantly narrated
Reviewed: 01-29-24
This would have been a fabulous book no matter who narrated it - clever, surprising, dark, captivating, twisty and so fun - but the narrator made it even better. So thankful the ext one comes out in three days, I did not want this to end!

Story
A successful film professor and podcaster, Bodie Kane is content to forget her past—the family tragedy that marred her adolescence, her four largely miserable years at a New Hampshire boarding school, and the murder of her former roommate, Thalia Keith, in the spring of their senior year. Though the circumstances surrounding Thalia’s death and the conviction of the school’s athletic trainer, Omar Evans, are hotly debated online, Bodie prefers—needs—to let sleeping dogs lie.

I finished this in record time, couldn’t wait to get back to it when I had to put it down. It wasn’t the best book ever, but it was fun and engaging and dark enough and very well-written. The narration was excellent. I got this one bc of a recommendation from Audible editors, and I’m so glad I did!
