A story that had me looking at my Echo as if my imagination was playing out on the screen. I love a story that takes me places, that removes me from my solitude to other business from a distance. This was a very good story.

Story
The visionary writer and director of Get Out, Us, and Nope, and founder of Monkeypaw Productions, curates this groundbreaking anthology of all-new stories of Black horror, exploring not only the terrors of the supernatural but the chilling reality of injustice that haunts our nation. Featuring an introduction by Peele and an all-star roster of beloved writers and new voices, Out There Screaming is a master class in horror, and—like his spine-chilling films—its stories prey on everything we think we know about our world . . . and redefine what it means to be afraid.

Reading this story, I was no longer in my home. I was with the characters; I was in their home and living in their world. I lost all sense of time, space, and place because I was so enthralled with this story from the start to finish, I could not fathom things could get any worse, but they did. My poor Tangy, I wanted to take her up in my arms, and just hold her and tell her that there is better. I could go on and on, but I don't even know where to start because it is so much to talk about.

I enjoyed how this story kept my attention. I just had to know what was going to happen next as if I was binge watching my favorite TV Show. Monica's delay really tried my patience, as did the Reverend. I can't wait to see this in a tv series.

Emotionally Remarkable
Reviewed: 08-15-20
I felt every emotion listening to the narration of this book. Ruby read me to sleep, " I am nothing but a slave, I do what I am told". Being that my own Grand Mother grew up in Indianola Mississippi in 1950, she speaks no differently. and I had to rewind to the part I remember leaving off on at one point. The Grandma made me cry with the story she told. I imagined that happening to a lot of our great great grands. This is a very, very, very great read, and something that should be on an avid readers book shelf.
