I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of this well written novel. I could sense the emotions and felt I knew characters. The Impressionist painters are brought to life and only enhanced my appreciation of their work. I recommend this novel to art lovers who want to escape to the Impressionist period and imagine life during that period.

Being a language major and intrigued by coding, this was the perfect combination for me. I was impressed by their ability to break code written in other alphabets or characters as well as their ability and their resolve to keep their work totally secret not only at the time but also into the future. They were incredible women and patriots. I highly recommend this book!

Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

I thoroughly enjoyed both the story of Ms. Tyson’s life and her performance in reading it. It mesmerized me to the point that I totally lost track of time and was brought to tears at times. I’ve always admired her as an actress and now, having heard her story and her experiences, I have more admiration and respect for her as a person. Thank you for sharing your life, Miss Tyson.

Originally published in six volumes, which sold more than one million copies, Carl Sandburg’s Abraham Lincoln was praised as the most noteworthy historical biography of Sandburg’s generation. He later distilled this monumental work into one volume that critics and readers alike consider his greatest work of nonfiction, as well as the most distinguished, authoritative biography of Lincoln ever published.
Growing up in an Illinois prairie town, Sandburg listened to stories of old-timers who had known Lincoln. By the time this single-volume edition was competed, he had spent a lifetime studying, researching, and writing about our 16th president.

The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance.

When I bought this book, I expected a story of the horrors of Auschwitz and that was there. What I didn’t expect were the insights into the psychology of overcoming trauma and healing after tremendous tragedy. I was also surprised to learn that the author came from the same geographical area as my great grandparents which added another dimension for me. The reader’s accent made the telling more vivid so that I was transported to that place and time. This is not an enjoyable book as it didn’t give me pleasure. It is an important book which recalls the horrific experiments conducted under Hitler which should never be forgotten. I don’t think I’ll ever forget her descriptions of Mengele as he separated prisoners or when he asked her to dance. Highly recommended...I plan to listen to this book again.

Having read Fire and Fury, I had to read Fear by Bob Woodward to get the true story, written in Mr. Woodward’s clear, honest style. This is a compelling look at the internal workings of the Trump White House. Woodward’s depiction of meetings clearly illustrates the issues with the current President. In my opinion, it is both believable and frightening.
