Story
What’s a witch to do when the coven of moral and ethical standards demands she untwist a curse—but an essential spell component no longer exists? There’s only one choice: go back in time. Caught between self-exile and an Alcatraz cell, Rachel must find an Atlantean mirror to reverse the curse and prove to Cincinnati’s brand-new witch coven that, no, she does not practice illicit magic. Unfortunately, the only mirror of its kind in existence belonged to the insane demon Newt, forcing Rachel to go to the past to bargain with her for it.

Story
With their Safe Zone overrun by the undead, taking refuge in the mountains seems like the safest bet for Rose, Tom, and the other survivors. There's one catch, however—between last spring's human exodus and a neighboring group's stockpiles, there's no food left to scavenge. They know to be wary of people and zombies, but a new adversary proves itself just as relentless—hunger. Supplies are slim in the wilderness, and living off the land is easier said than done. As winter sets in, and their food dwindles to nothing, they discover how far they'll go to save the ones they love.

Best apocalypse series
Reviewed: 11-30-24
This is book 3 in this post apocalypse series and I’ve waited till now to start my review. Sometimes when you have a multibook series, they start to get a little repetitive and become dull., not so with the series. It is continued to keep me interested, even though it is multi hours long in each book and I look forward to the next one as soon as one ends. The characters are full and rich, and the narrator is entertaining.

Deciphering an ancient alchemy book is more difficult than Zoe Faust bargained for. She'd much rather be gardening and exploring her new hometown of Portland, Oregon - but time is running out for living gargoyle Dorian Robert-Houdin. If Zoe isn't able to unlock an unusual alchemy book's secrets soon, the French gargoyle will remain awake but trapped in stone forever.

Enjoying this story line, the alchemy and what will become of Zoey and Dorian. The narration is good. Love the French vegan recipes, they sound delicious.

Story
Dr. Renee Caisson knows there are worse things than an attractive man in uniform drafting her into a secret government project—especially when Major Jackson makes it clear that he isn’t bothered by her questionable past. But when her labs come back with decidedly odd results, the Major is forced to come clean over who the government is actually studying. Renee is shocked to learn her subjects are demonic-looking beings who call themselves “Neighbors”—refugees from a dying world, who arrived during the nation-wide solar eclipse.

I hope that this is the start of a great new series. Initially I read some reviews that really didn’t like it, I guess if you’re not a science geek, it may not be yourcup of tea but for me personally, it was fantastic, it’s a mix of Alien , science, and the introduction of where all of our fairy tales came from.
I can’t wait for the next book!

Petra Grady has known since adolescence that she has no talent for magic—and that’s never going to change. But as a sweeper first-class, she’s parlayed her rare ability to handle dross—the damaging, magical waste generated by her more talented kin’s spellwork—into a decent life working at the mages’ university. Except Grady’s relatively predictable life is about to be upended.

Story
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

I had read a lot of negative reviews about this book. Having been a long time Stephen King fan, I found this collaboration to be fantastic, like Rose Madder, and Tom Gordon, sometimes it’s just outside of the box. This wasn’t a typical book, but it was still a fabulous book, 5 stars from me!

Story
Eleven years at the FBI taught me two things—how to stay alive when a gun is pointed at my head, and that I never want to work for anyone else ever again. When I moved to Atlanta and started my own PI firm, I swore I’d never make my living chasing down missing or philandering spouses. But the rent is due, so when a woman knocked on my door and offered me a boatload of money to track down her missing husband who helped himself to a family heirloom on his way out, I had a hard time saying no. Seemed like easy money.

Love the Audible
Reviewed: 10-31-23
I have loved this entire series. This would not have been a series that I would’ve read simply because the names would’ve been difficult for me to have pronounced in written form, and I get bored easily differentiating between all the characters when the names are hard for me too straighten out. But listening to them on Audible has solved that for me, and I have adored the series. All the characters are brought to life with the narrator, and the author has brought together, so many different, Elven, Dwarves, Dragons, Goblins and others then given them such rich personalities as individuals as well. Overall just wonderful!

Peace Talks made me remember why I loved Harry Dresden. Without giving away to many spoilers, there wasn’t as much wizardry as you normally see, but I think this was like a great way to reintroduce and remind us of all of the great characters in the previous books.
Overall, phenomenal reintroduction to our Harry. I personally have missed him.
