Great sequel

I really liked this one, it was great to see team biscuit back at it again. I also appreciated Jason getting to have chemistry with Lady Noreen again. the messenger storyline and the current world peril are high stakes.
Hate ending on a cliffhanger though. Also, throwing a "maladroitly" at us in chapter 91 like he's Brandon Sanderson so if a sudden.

Story
A young man lives among the trees of a primeval forest, raised by a wizened old sage and friend to the faeries and spirits of his home. He bears only half a name—Lien, an ancient word meaning "blade" or "edge"—and no knowledge of his heritage. As he grows, so too does his need for independence and answers. Thus, he begins his adventure, seeking a shattered sword and the truth behind the mysterious mark on his right hand.

Good progression but felt slow.
Reviewed: 02-17-24
I enjoyed the narrative and world, but it seemed like there were long technical passages that didn't move the narrative along and didn't pay off later. I like hard magic systems versus soft but it was too nitty gritty for too not long, and not effectively worked in. It also felt like the entire story was a long training montage and we got so little of the narrative during those times. All that being said, I like the book. I look forward to the next one where hopefully there won't be as much about the system that needs to be explained.

Story
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

A must listen

Since listening to this book, it has firmly been my favorite. An epic treasure hunt, litrpg, magic, sci-fi, pop culture extravaganza rolled into a fun coming of age story with heart and heartbreak. Will Wheaton's performance was pitch perfect, and I couldn't think of a better casting. If I only had one book in my collection, it would be this.

Great Sequel

An even deeper dive into the Oasis and 1980s pop culture trivia. Cline continues to do a great job world building. Instead of living happily ever after, Wade and the high 5's story gets even more complex and we're along for the ride. I recommend this series to everyone that's reads for recreation.

A great depiction

The author did a great job accounting the events to bring understanding of this issue. He mapped the path of all the main characters through their history with radicalization and made it clear which steps along the way drove them further. in addition to entertainment, I think these episodes are educational about how and where these groups prey on people.

RPG turned fantasy epic
Reviewed: 11-01-19
I don't want to compare this to Ready Player One because it is its own great thing, but that book was the reason i wanted to try this book and I love it. Life Reset is a brilliant world construction and fantasy epic set in an RPG. Like Oren, I felt myself becoming lost in NEO. This took me back to what it felt like when I started playing WoW.
