About this listen

A subterranean power creates strange bedfellows for Jason and his friends in the epic next installment of He Who Fights with Monsters.

Following the devastating attack on Yaresh, its people are left to pick up the pieces. The city lies in ruins, but its decimated defenders have more to deal with than just reconstruction. Jason's actions during the battle have brought unwelcome attention from allies and enemies alike. While the adventurers question his loyalty, the messengers question his very nature. Both have designs on Jason that he intends to thwart, but a danger comes to light that shifts everyone's agenda.

Deep underground, a hidden civilization has survived by tapping into a long-buried power. That power's growing instability has become both a threat and an opportunity to the warring surface factions. Neither side can stop or claim the power alone, leading to an uneasy alliance with a reluctant Jason at the center. The adventurers, messengers, and Jason himself all have intentions for the power but little idea what awaits them below ground. There are more players involved than any of them realize, and soon, they will have greater problems than each other.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Engaging Character Development • Witty Dialogue • Exceptional Voice Acting • Rich Worldbuilding • Emotional Depth

I love the series but, I'm becoming underwhelmed with Heath Miller. The editing needs to be smoothened out like the first few books. Also, If we hung on this long I think we can do with fewer recaps. I absolutely want to see Jason and the team hit diamond rank so please don't stop. Just don't rush lol. We will wait!!!

Hoping for better in book 11

For someone who fights way above his level but has a hard time leveling up is just poor writing. The author tried to justified his bad writing in the book but failed even more. Repetition is another poor way of writing. Saying the same thing over and over is just a page filler not good writing. All that being said it is still a good story line following gaming styles.

Lack of progress

I won't spoil anything but this ends with a huge cliffhanger and it upsets me... still a great book as always but if I knew it was going to end this badly I would have waited for the next book

wait till book 11 is out

The first ten hours were filled with fluff and rambling. The second part was this book's saving grace. Unfortunately, it ended on a cliffhanger before he even gets the soul forge, while the entire book seems to foreshadow it for ten hours straight. The first seven books were great, but now it’s just me. This was my last attempt to keep up with the series, so it's so disappointing!

Yeah, I lied, Love Shirtaloon had Heath Miller too much.

Why? Ok this is my last attempt

Slow to build up but left with another cliffhanger. No spoilers here just take my word for it, sit back, and enjoy!

Another great addition

Why are you reading this review? This is the 10th book in the series! If you’ve read the previous books, then you know what to expect, just more of the good stuff, and I can’t get enough of it. If you haven’t read the previous books then I would recommend not starting with the 10th, go back and start at the beginning. Make yourself a sandwich and enjoy.

More of the good stuff

Just as incredible as the last 9 of not more so! I didn't want to stop listening, so much so that I'd be thinking about it throughout the work day just waiting to listen to more.

Amazing as always

Really enjoyed this one Travis. Lots of solid and humorous scenes with the witty Jason/Team Biscuit banter we know and love along with character and plot advancement. One thing I really enjoy is learning new Aussie slang and while I’m picking it up from context I’d really appreciate a clear definition of ‘chooney’ so I’m not getting it wrong :) And great narration performance as always!

Good on ya!
