This book was absolutely brilliant! The tale of how women would become dragons is not merely a metaphor, it is truth.
Truth in the sense that a change is stirred up, a fire is set ablaze and there is no other way but to become one’s true self but to transform.

Great read....or listen

Really enjoyed this book. Being somewhat familiar with the happenings of the Old West, I thought this book was balanced and gave an accurate portrayal of both sides. The inevitable clash between 2 civilizations and the brutality that existed on BOTH sides, Gwynne does a fair job at portraying the reality, and not the emotional kneejerk reaction that usually accompanies books on this topic portraying one side as peace loving people simply living off the land while the other was warlike and bloodthirsty. This is rarely the reality as humans of all races and cultures are capable of evil, no matter the team they play for. While he does romanticize Quanah Parker to some degree, it's very understandable given his unique position in history. I learned a lot about Parker and his background and the reasons he became the man he was.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who has even a passing interest in this topic. One suggestion for S.C. Gwynne....please do your own narration instead of paying someone else to do it. It adds so much more flavor and personal touch to the audiobook when the author himself is the one doing the narration! Knocked off 1 star for performance for this reason alone.

William James was a psychologist and, as such, his interest in religion was not that of a theologian but of a scientist. In these 20 lectures, he discusses the nature and origin of religious belief. The average believer is one who has inherited his religion, but this will not do for James's inquiry.
