This book is very sweet. The series continues to show off the talents of authors Sally Malcolm and Joanna Chambers. Jay and Tag start off on rocky footing before proceed to a period of miscommunication and misunderstandings. All the while having delightful moments of pure romantic heaven for the reader, ending with smile-inducing happiness. Adding his wonderful voice to the production is Simon Goldhill's spectacular performance.

Fun and sharp-witted, this Pygmalian-esque story by Leslie McAdam is easily the best romance I’ve read in many months. The dialogue sparkles. The first-person POV doesn’t get too heavily bogged down with internal angst. It’s the perfect breezy beach/poolside summer read.

Adding to this impeccable audio edition is the spectacular voice-acting by Declan Winters. His performance brings the listener directly into the story and makes it feel real. I’ll be looking out for more of his excellent voice work.

Suspensful Romantic Mystery

Rick R Reed writes “Silence of the Missing” with a gothic-like atmosphere, infusing this romantic mystery/suspense tale in a spooky, other-worldly foreboding. David Allen Vargo delivers a wonderful performance as narrator. The production value is top-notch.

The book has plot holes, implausibilities, and unanswered questions that I couldn’t quite look past. This is probably just unique to me, however, when comparing to reactions from other reviewers. Ultimately, I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it–it’s fine.

This delightful opposites-attract romance between gardener Owen and model/influencer Mason gets under way with an adorable get-to-know-you phase. The happy times are undermined by a manipulative outside influence that brings in the angst for Mason and Owen. But never fear, the tear-inducing moments are conquered by honesty and forgiveness to end with a lovely happy-ever-after.

Narrator Simon Goldhill delivers a marvelous performance in his depiction of these wonderful characters.

Can Reality TV Bring Best Friends Toghether?

With a clever ‘House Hunters’-style premise, Rick R Reed tells the romantic story of Cody and Matt. While Cody spends much of the book keeping Matt firmly in the friends-zone, Matt is angst-ing over his unrequited love for his best friend. Will they ever find their way to each other? Well, if reality-TV show ‘Husband Hunters’ has any sway in the matter, the answer is yes. Listen as two best friends, and a couple of matchmaking TV producers, slowly make love happen. ‘Husband Hunters’ is an enchanting story on every level.

Narrator Wesley Landry, who narrates Reed’s ‘The Couple Next Door’ (also a good listen), does a wonderful job conveying the personalities of both Matt and Cody. He delivers a splendid performance throughout.

In what could have been a heavily angst-ed story, Christina Lee writes a fairly light, sweet romance between Lachlan, a man experiencing houselessness and Foster, who is diagnosed with chronic depressive episodes. Throughout the book, both men come to realize that despite their individual challenges, they can weather the storms together in love. Add in an adorable dog named Oscar and an ever-brilliant narration from Nick J Russo, and ‘In the Gray’ will give listeners a lovely experience.

Van and Brodie Recognize Their Love for Each Other

Forbidden rockstar/manager romance, age-gap, and super-low-angst are the prominent tropes/features of ‘Punk-In’, first in a series featuring romance among the members of superstar rock band, Wayward Lane. In what can almost be declared a slow-burn romance due to Olsen revealing the past 4 years of Brodie and Van pining for one other, becomes steamy true-love near the middle of the story. While the dialogue gets a bit sappy toward the end, the story as a whole is sweet, cute, and enjoyable.

Speaking of dialogue, Zachary Zaba’s performance of Van and Brodie’s voices is oddly formal sounding. So much so that it takes the listener out of the story somewhat. The exposition is executed flawlessly in contrast.

Angel and Taylor Find Love at Foxxxy's

An adorable, sweet romance between two young people dealing with their own particular identity issues is at the core of this love-beats-all story. Angel and Taylor are becoming more than coworkers, but they each must face traumas from their pasts before they can have their happily-ever-after. Along the way they discover not only each other, but their Foxxy crew found family. Nikole Knight’s story delivers all the feels and compels the reader’s belief in Angel and Taylor’s love.

This performance is a first-time listen for me with narrator Eddie Herrera. Angel and Taylor’s accented dialogue is well executed. Angel’s POV ‘voice’ is great, but Taylor’s ‘voice’ doesn’t match with what I imagine it to be in my head.

I didn’t hate it, but I’ve found other post-EMP offerings to be more satisfying. Maybe I’ve read too many PA books. Hunt seems to have thrown in all the PA tropes here, but, disappointingly, not in any intriguing new way. Some predictability is inevitable in any popular genre, but there’s nothing surprising here. A few of the plot points snapped my suspension of disbelief thoroughly.

Miles Meili is my choice for narrator of the apocalypse. Great performance, as always.

Ben and Silas Strengthen Their Relationship

This second book of Nikole Knight’s ‘Far from Ruined’ series, being less angsty than Book 1, reveals the growing relationship between Ben and Silas. Not-as-prickly Silas is slowly becoming more accepting of the affection and help Ben is offering him. Ben, for his part, is learning to navigate through Silas’ resistance. Except for some intense angst very near the end, the book is an adorable portrayal of teens falling in love.

I can’t explain why, but the cliffhanger here is more egregious than with Book 1.

Nick Newport does an excellent job with voicing the main characters. Newport conveys their personalities exactly how I interpret Knight's writing of them.
