About this listen

Two young men haunted by their pasts. One bond that can save them both.

Sarcastic loud-mouth, Silas Brigs is used to taking care of himself. He's done it for years, after all. But the too-perfect Ben Adams has other plans. Against all odds, the California diver has worked his way under Silas's prickly exterior, and Silas is left to wrestle with the simmering attraction building between them.

When their feelings can no longer be ignored, Silas and Ben must work together to navigate their insecurities and trauma, or risk the delicate relationship they've come to rely on. But Silas's life is filled with more than simple high school drama, and being his friend—let alone more—puts Ben in danger. Monsters from Silas's past refuse to sleep, and the secrets are piling up. Unfortunately for Silas, some truths don't stay hidden.

Trigger Warnings: Homophobia (including but not limited to: bullying, dialogue, insults/slurs, physical abuse/assault, etc.), aftermath and trauma of attempted sexual assault, stalking, mentions of self-destructive behavior, depression, and suicide.

Silas and Ben's story continues......

Every Hidden Truth is Book 2 in the Far From Ruined series and should be enjoyed in order. This is the continuing emotional story about Ben and Silas. Two young men navigating high school, a building relationship, and past traumas. I enjoy Ben and Silas together and this book gets a little spicy as Ben and Silas become closer. But secrets can't stay hidden forever and the truth starts to come out. I recommend this book and series.
Narrator Nick Newport does another fabulous job in bringing these characters to life. I'm really enjoying his narration of this series.

Rips your heart out, but you want it

Oh heavens to Betsy. This is part 2 of the Far From Ruined series and holy cannoli it will put you through IT. I mean, all the feels. As a continuation of book one this is not a standalone and does end on a cliffhanger basically. Well, I mean, it ends with your heart being ripped out and you’re just hoping that it will get put back together in book 3. Please please please heed any trigger warnings this is not a light read. High angst, sexual assault, teenagers - but you already knew that because you read book one and, I mean, we already knew it was a continuation of that. One note about the audio on this one - it does NOT parallel the book. It seems that perhaps there was some re-writing/editing particularly around the chapters 19, 20, 21 ish chapters (could be more, I’m not sure, that’s where I definitely noticed it). I do sometimes like to read where the audio left off (sometimes I can’t sleep in the middle of the night, it happens) and in this case it was extremely confusing in that area. That being said, none of the changes, so far as I could tell, changed the overarching story or lead us to a different cliffhanger, but a heads up is warranted. I cannot wait for book three as I’m going to need these boys to find some sort of HEA.

Ben and Silas grow together

Ben and Silas’s story is complex. Even with the books ending in cliffhangers it is still worth listening so you can witness the evolution of their relationship. I’m looking forward to the third and final book.

Amazing story from Nikole and Nick

This story picks up right where book 1 left off. You do really need to read book 1 first. And like the first book, this one is filled with emotional scenes. Experiencing both the good and bad, the boys are now building on their relationship and are still fighting the "enemy". I loved the sexy times these two share and how realistic they are given their prior histories. I love their interactions with the side characters as well. How friends make us better, stronger, and are supportive. Love that their friends are all different and unique and add to the story. This story too leads to an emotional cliff hanger. Jumping into the last book and hoping for ... a promising ending.

Audio:
OMG, it was hard, and wonderful, to read the first time because of the angst. However, listening to it in audio ... breath taking. I had to pause at one point because I could just feel the boys' pain. Nick Newport's narration sets the right cadence to just fall into the story and be absorbed. I'm looking forward to how his narration will bring the series to an end.

Cliffhanger!!!

This author really likes to keep the characters (okay I mean readers) hanging. I love the story and love seeing Silas and Ben get closer. I also feel so bad for Silas and the things he's been through. I've really enjoyed listening to this aeries, but I may have to read the last book so I can see what happens.

Intense!!

We were given so much more within this continuation. Ben and Silas were chef’s kiss together, even throughout all their rocky hills thrown their way. I can only sympathize with Silas’ mindframe of keeping silent for so long, and poor Ben just wants the best for him. The issues of this story are unfortunately real, happening more than anyone wants to admit. Nikole is doing a great job of helping to bring the truth out, letting the victims know all their options.

As with the first story, I was not excited to hear the narrator was the same. Even though the majority of the story is told from Silas’ POV, the similarities between the two characters were too much. If Nikole’s writing style was not able to capture my attention, I would have thrown the towel in with the first narrative.

Either way, I cannot wait for the ending. Nikole is killing me with these cliffhangers with no line to hang onto so I don’t drown with their story’s ending.

Great continuation

I am really enjoying this story it's a great continuation from the first and things move along a little bit quicker with this one. There are some changes from the e-book to the audio there are entire sections omitted and some reworked and there are pieces that were added. Now the additions I think were great and some of the reworking was good as well but there is a huge chunk omitted between chs 19 and 20 I think that is omitted and reworked and I really think it should have been left in. Also if you like to alternate between reading and listening or follow along then it's a little jarring. That being said this is a great story a bit heartbreaking and does end on a little cliffhanger but I'm looking forward to what comes next. Narration was done well and it was a pleasant listen.

Loving this series

Nick Newport did an amazing job yet again with Ben and Silas. Such a beautiful performance which brought a lot of emotion.

Gahhh. These boys. They have buried themselves so deep in my heart and it aches so hard for them

What i enjoyed so much was Silas and Ben building their friendship into more, love. I love how much they are honest and you know how they are feeling. They have very supportive family which I adore. They are keeping secrets and you just know something is going to happen, big happens, in this book and boy does it rock the boys.

I absolutely loved Ben and Silas and the secondary characters. Nikole writes in such a manner that you feel what each of the characters are feeling. I can’t wait for book 3 to come to audio because just WOW.

Surpassing Friendship!

Loved seeing these two young men start to connect emotionally and physically in this one. They are finally intimate in all the ways that perfectly fit them. Nick Newport our narrator has the perfect fresh narrating voice for portraying the age of the guys. The way he voices Silas's musings, especially about Ben's assets was so much fun. Silas is still a sarcastic one! They go through some heartbreaking situations this time and since we do get a cliffhanger, I am hanging on for their happy every after!

Ben and Silas Strengthen Their Relationship

This second book of Nikole Knight’s ‘Far from Ruined’ series, being less angsty than Book 1, reveals the growing relationship between Ben and Silas. Not-as-prickly Silas is slowly becoming more accepting of the affection and help Ben is offering him. Ben, for his part, is learning to navigate through Silas’ resistance. Except for some intense angst very near the end, the book is an adorable portrayal of teens falling in love.

I can’t explain why, but the cliffhanger here is more egregious than with Book 1.

Nick Newport does an excellent job with voicing the main characters. Newport conveys their personalities exactly how I interpret Knight's writing of them.

Recommended.
