Story
Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

With limited experience between them, a shortcut meant to ease their hike turns into a nightmare scenario that could cost them their lives. Lost, hungry, and surrounded by forest untouched for millennia, Luke figures things couldn't possibly get any worse.

Story
Mercer Mann, a popular writer from Camino Island, is back on the beach, marrying her boyfriend, Thomas, in a seaside ceremony. Bruce Cable, infamous owner of Bay Books, performs the wedding. Afterward, Bruce tells Mercer that he has stumbled upon an incredible story. Mercer desperately needs an idea for her next novel, and Bruce now has one. The true story is about Dark Isle, a sliver of a barrier island not far off the North Florida coast. It was settled by freed slaves three hundred years ago, and their descendants lived there until 1955, when the last one was forced to leave.

Grisham once again came through with a wonderful story, and having Whoopi in the house to tell it to me was awesome. Great pairing, do it again, please!

Hard to like Cat, the lead character
Reviewed: 03-22-18
What disappointed you about Blood Memory?
I keep wanting to scream at the lead character, "get over yourself". She is so self absorbed. Haven't finished this book yet, and not sure I can
Did Joyce Bean do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
fairly good reader, but obviously not a native New Orlenian.
What character would you cut from Blood Memory?
CAT

Could not finish, Bronx accent in New Orleans?
Reviewed: 01-20-16
What would have made The Big Kiss better?
Either move the story to the Bronx or let someone like Will Patton perform. All the characters sound like they are from NY. They aren't even able to pronounce the street names correctly.
What do you think your next listen will be?
not sure, but I will listen to some of the dialog before I buy anymore audio books
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Michael J. McCue?
Will Patton
