WHY did she have to have an unplanned pregnancy???? WHY are authors continually making this trope a happy one!?Unplanned knocked up is almost NEVER welcomed news. Most men would hightail it quick too; not swooning and in love. Women have to deal with this alone most of the time, and only if they are lucky enough to have choices. Please stop celebrating unplanned pregnancy, especially now, when this situation is an absolute life-threatening nightmare. It ruins 99% of stories, including this one.

Story
Homicide detective Julia Cass has witnessed plenty of crime scenes. But the murder of a Chattanooga judge is shocking in its brutality. The only way to stop the slaughter is to predict the next victim. But when you're dealing with vengeance at its most ruthless, one wrong move can make you a target...and the next word you utter could be your last....

It was a bit too easy to pinpoint the killer though. I knew right away who he or she was at the first mention of her or him. The story was enjoyable despite that.
Karen White is a great narrator.

Possible spoiler.
Why would anyone fall for this guy? His maturity level is that of a child’s and he is cruel and a bully. There is absolutely nothing attractive about that, no matter his physical appearance. I re-listened to this after noticing I had left off with 2 hours to go and now I remember why I stopped listening the first time. Performances were good, but…just no on this story.

What does Cal see in Stella?
Reviewed: 12-06-21
She is a very unlikeable person and I can’t imagine why a hot doctor would waste his time with her. She’s annoying and selfish. Ugh. Sorry, but who needs her kind of grief?
Cal is hot, though, and Jason Clarke sounds like a hot doctor in his narration of Cal.

Story
Reed freaking Rivers. I wouldn’t trust a word out of the arrogant music mogul’s mouth if his gold-plated tongue were notarized. The man with the Midas touch would say anything to get me into his bed, and I know it. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want him to succeed. Indeed, the moment I laid eyes on Reed while he was speaking at an on-campus event I’d crashed, my body physically ached to feel his golden fingers - and tongue - all over me.

Story
While I was off pitching in the big leagues, my family was back in the small town of Sweetwater, Texas, running the family ranch. Then tragedy hit and I discovered there were secrets that my family kept, problems they hid. I went home, left behind the money, women, and fame. I took over the ranch, took care of my grandmother, and took over hiding the secrets. Then she came to town. A smart-mouthed, clumsy, too-smart-and-too-pretty good city girl hiding out to write a book, in the cottage my grandmother rented her without my permission, and she sees too much. She knows too much.

Story
There were rules in the cash-for-beauty game. The money held the power. The beauty followed the rules and jumped through the hoops. The bride. I knew what everyone would think if they knew the truth about my marriage. They'd be shocked and appalled. And rightly so. I was a young, modern, independent woman, and I'd done the unthinkable. I'd sold my virginity to a spoiled rich boy. To a stranger who didn’t love me. And yes, I'd done it all for money.

Good story, but not my favorite from RKL
Reviewed: 09-15-19
Jason Clarke is sexy as Banks, of course. He could read Black’s Law Dictionary and make it sexy. I didn’t love the female narrator, but she was better than Erin Mallon (who I can no longer handle listening to). The story was good, but I kept wanting it to measure up to Tristan and Dannika. It doesn’t measure up. Overall, I liked it, but I will not listen to it again, like I have with all of RKL’s other books in this genre.

This last installment of the trilogy gets annoying and tiring. Joe A. was good, but E. Mallon’s breathy, crying voice gets very annoying. I did not finish, so keep that in mind. think I would have finished the book had I not listened first, but I couldn’t take E. Mallon’s voice after about an hour and a half.
