We love Elvin!
Reviewed: 03-26-25
My husband and I really enjoyed this book. We did worry that Elvin wasn’t going to snap out of it and we got frustrated with him. We can’t help but like Hollis and was glad to see he was kept in the storyline. The ending of this book left us dying to hear the next book.

But when she was asked to testify in court against his abusive mother, Cherry never got the chance. She couldn't lie if her life depended on it - and it did. Cherry's body was found on the side of a Texas road, after being doused with lighter fluid and set aflame. Attractive, manipulative, and violent, mother of four Kim Cargill had a wealth of dirty secrets she'd do anything to keep hidden.

At first, the residents of Kauai Beach Resort took little notice of their new neighbors. The glamorous blonde and her tall husband fit the image of the ritzy gated community. The couple seemed to keep to themselves - until the police knocked on their door with a search warrant. Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell had fled to Hawaii in the midst of being investigated for the disappearance of Lori's children back in Idaho - Tylee and JJ - who hadn't been seen alive in five months.

I thought this was a good book. When I say good about such a horrible event, I mean it was very informative about what happened and how.

Non-stop listening!
Reviewed: 03-10-21
I loved this book so much! I listened to it non-stop until the very end, even while in my office at work. The characters came to life and you fell in love with each and everyone. I cried through the last few chapters. Such unlikely friendships that were made stronger after the most horrible of tragedies. The narrator was perfect for this story.

Story
Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said a combination of beauty and strength made Southern women “whiskey in a teacup”. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside, we’re strong and fiery. Reese’s Southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of Southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken.

I loved this book from beginning to end. I’m a woman from Arkansas so all of this was truly a life I grew up with and still continue. Our family has always been a big fan of Reese Witherspoon because of her southern charm. Southern folks can spot a fraud a mile away. Reese is the real thing!
