The ring is tiny, for a woman, and it has her initials engraved on the inside. Reacher wonders what unlucky circumstance made her give up something she earned over four hard years. He decides to find out. And find the woman. And return her ring. Why not?

Where does The Very First Damned Thing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The book was great; however, I didn't realize it was a short story.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Good
Which character – as performed by Jodi Taylor – was your favorite?
All
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
nope
Any additional comments?
My personal opinion only is that it was way too short, not a novel at all which is what I enjoy. I guess if you have read the ones in the series before this you should also read this one. I just wish it was a full blown one. Other than that as good as always!

Audible exclusive. We welcome Jodi Taylor to Audible to discuss her hit series The Chronicles of St Mary's - the adventures of a group of investigative time travelling historians. Jodi Taylor is, and always has been, a complete history nut. It takes vast amounts of chocolate to get her out of bed for anything after 1485. And if it's raining, there's no chance.

Reviewed: 06-28-17
Would you listen to Three More Jack Reacher Novellas again? Why?
Again, I do not care for short stories (like will not read them); however, Lee Child did another amazing trip for Jack Reacher. Several trips as a matter of fact. I thought Lee was as clever as ever and the stories were great, even though shorter than I prefer. Most of them could have been expanded and made into full novels. But I also see that most of them were written in the past so he probably didn't want to revisit them that much.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jack, because he is who he is. And for movie watchers that are considering reading the books - Tom Cruise is not even a close imitation of Jack Reacher.
What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He always does a great job. He and Scott Brick are my favorites.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Just another Reacher experience.
Any additional comments?
Thanks Mr. Child, keep them rolling!

OK, I heard of, and watched the TV show of like-name first. Maybe that damaged my perspective; however, the book was...simply put, boring.
Way too much philosophizing and not much else. I felt like I was in a boring college lecture many times throughout. Also, the characters, who are some of the smartest scientific minds around were idiots in many of their theories.
I did finish it just "because", but will not recommend it.
