A Good Grief for a Beautiful Life Lived
Reviewed: 01-05-25
Ms. Avant wrote poignantly about the tragedy of her mother's murder. This book is inspiring and rich with wisdom. She doesn't offer pithy answers, but tells of her journey through the tragedy and gratitude. Hope and Grace are given in the midst of a heavy grief for lives very well lived. Thank you for finishing this.

Story
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Loved listening to Matthew's rendition of his first 50 years. This memoir inspires me to just keep living and to live authentically. The simplicity of life and impulsively way of pursuing life is what inspires me the most. And I'm thankful the author chose to take the time to read it to us.... The rhythm of the voice brings life to the memories!
