Entertaining

This story is short. It was a bit confusing to me since it started with no understanding of what was going on or who the characters were. This was done by jumping the POV back and forth through time rather than a linear flow.
The character was trying to escape a situation that was beyond their understanding or control. They were dependent upon an unknown who sometimes helped and sometimes did not.
Being a short story one would not expect a complete world building but more would have helped.
The narration was well done.

Story
The universe is a playground for the ultra-rich, and Jay has found himself aboard the ultimate luxury cruise. But this isn't your ordinary vacation—it's a luxury warfare experience, where the passengers battle each other with simulated weapons and technology. What Jay is after, though, has nothing to do with the games. Worse, when an alien race arrives to reclaim their planet, the luxury warfare cruise is the only thing standing in their way.

Good space opera

This was a first by this author. Good action and personal interaction. It started a little slow with no hint of what was really going on, but rapidly became more and more intense as the story developed.
The story revolves around a young hacker who feels he has to make a trip on a luxury "military adventure cruise", but we don't know why he feels he has to do this. It develops further when an alien race attacks the humans intent on removing them from space. It is only through sheer determination that the people on board survive.
Decent narration. Enjoyed the book even if shorter than I normally listen to.

Multiple problems
Reviewed: 07-20-23
This series revolves around several main characters. One Human, several aliens. With most books Jim (the human) is first pitted against one or more of the aliens in a life or death battle. This normally is where the alien is trying to overcome the humans in conquest or to eradicate them.
The various universes are not spelled out until deeper into the series where we learn that they are being manipulated and the participants know nothing of how they are being maneuvered.
Many of the "current enemies" of one book will become either friend or allies of other books or both. It is an evolving relationship.
Many of the people who die we will find counterparts of in other parallel universes and they will move between as needed.
It is a series where you always feel all hope is lost in the beginning of each book. The challenge they face get larger and larger with each book also.
Snarky and ego are abundant with the characters.
The narrator is outstanding.

While this book is short it goes into some detail as to how to start, grow and continue a garden. The book covers from how to select a plot or place for your garden. It also details how to prepare the soil for planting. A lot of emphasis was placed on how to select the proper plants for the are of the country you are in as well as how to determine bush or climbing varieties.
Overall a very informative audio book. If you don't want to take a lot of notes it might help to also grab the e-book for all the tables and bullet points mentioned.
The narrator did a very good job on this book and was easy to understand.

Very good book. Many interpersonal relationships and stories.
This book varied between knowing all hope was lost and thinking that the day had been saved to only have it turn worse than before. The action was always intense with more than enough "gallows humor" to go around.
Many of Jim's friends were lost in this book. The number of obstacles that must be overcome seems to never decrease and always seem to get harder with each book.
Exceptional narrator with emphasis on emotional content.
