Story
In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

Story
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Story
On a dark night in Lusaka, Zambia, an adolescent girl is brutally assaulted. In shock, she cannot speak. Her identity is a mystery. Where did she come from? Was the attack a random street crime or a premeditated act? The girl's case is taken up by Zoe Fleming, a human rights lawyer working in Africa. A betrayal in her own past gives the girl's plight a special resonance for Zoe, and she is determined to find the perpetrator and seek justice. Also investigating on behalf of the Zambian police is Joseph Kabuta. At first reluctant to work together, they team up.

Where does The Garden of Burning Sand rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the top of books I have listened to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The teenage child with Down Syndrome who is raped was my favorite character. There was an incite into how those afflicted think and react to situations.
What does Robin Miles bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her voice is Zoe.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
In the end when justice wins and we find out that there are good people in the world.
Any additional comments?
Loved this book. Had a mystery and a love story all set in an exotic location. Even though you know what happens in the beginning the journey to explain it is wonderful.
