Nothing new here! Based on the title and sample, I thought this could be an interesting read about the dynamics between the brothers and their wives. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed when it turned out to be nothing but a regurgitation of news clips, story lines, and books written entirely from H&M's tales sprinkled with Princess Diana's one-sided accusations against Charles. It quickly became apparent that the author set out to paint a glaringly biased picture of how H&M are poor victims of the calloused Prince and Princess of Wales and King Charles and did so without any fact checking. The only positive thing I can say is that the reader did his job, although I don't know why he'd want his name attached to such a biased, unoriginal book.

I couldn't connect to this edition at all. I first bought the book in 1986 and it was excellent!! The way she spoke to the audience in her book, made me feel as though I was in a personal conversation with her. This audible version doesn't draw me in, nothing stands out. I'm going back to the books!

Enjoyed every bit of the dry wit! The reader did an excellent job, sounded exactly like the real Haz, really the best performance I've heard yet!! Thanks for all the smiles!

The writing was very poorly written. I usually enjoy this type of book just to get a bit of a picture, while knowing that some of the information can be taken with some grain of salt. This book, however, was so over-the-top, it was blatantly obvious the writer over exaggerated! The reading of it was also distracting and added to the feeling that it was a purely fictional tale, written by someone who wanted to paint the worst picture possible-at least of some characters. I did like the fact that it didn't paint Diana as an innocent saint vs Charles as emotionless and unfeeling. While I considered the book to be more inaccurate to add a sensationalistic value, I did find some of her descriptions of Diana's behaviors to be believable, based on other information that has been available for years. I applaud her efforts to bring the other side of that story to light!
The writer didn't have a lot of negative to say about QEII or Prince Phillip, which was nice. Although I must confess I did fall a sleep to it (used it as a bedtime wind-down) and even though I'd start chapters over, I could have missed some of the negative story lines.
The person who came out the worst was Fergie, whose character was presented as being completely without knowledge of social norms; a cross between a complete heathen without any moral values or social skills and someone whose behaviors were almost anamalistic! Very over-the-top! What made her presentation and story of Fergie even worse was the reader's attempt to mimick people's voices! Her attempt at accents and immitations were so poorly done they distracted from the story rather than helping to paint a picture.
I have an audible subscription, so I can take the hit of paying 1 credit as they build up quickly. If you have to pay cash for this book, I'd skip it!

I'm glad to finally have gotten the opportunity to hear about Elton John's life from Elton John!! Once I started listening to it I could not put it down! The way he shared the deepest secrets of his personal life was so honest I could feel the depth of his recovery--just as though he was taking us on his journey through the 12 Steps!! His truthfulness had/has me looking back at my life again. Such a thorough moral inventory is so cleansing it can't help but leave one feeling renewed and looking forward to going forward with a refreshed outlook on life.

The writing and honesty in this writing definitely earns 5 stars! I have the audible version and I will say the only thing it lacked in order for me to give it a full 5-star review is the fact that Elton himself performed minimal narration. enjoy Teron Eggerton very much, so as far as that goes I think he gave another great performance of Elton John's life! Personally however, I felt so much more connected to Elton John's own narrations-- in his own voice--that I felt it missed the potential impact it may have had for me. Had I read the book I definitely would have given it a 5-star review in all areas! Still, overall an EXCELLENT biography! I would recommend purchasing the book over audible simply because of the narration.
