Story
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Lousy Narration
Reviewed: 11-20-18
What a disappointment. I have read/listened to several Baldacci novels..and narrator Kyf Brewer is great. But in this story, the back and forth with co narrator Brittany Pressley is poor..It feels forced, especially when Kyf does several characters ALL IN THE SAME EXACT VOICE. It just feels phony, as if he dialed it while on vacation... Brittney is too matter of fact and just not engaging..I had to stop a third of the way through....
Come on Mr Baldacci, don't you listen to this stuff?

Excellent listen for All
Reviewed: 10-17-18
Excellent, in touch, fact based reality that will resonate with all but the far left or right...Amazing what special interests and the media have done to create divisions amongst all of us...
I don't and never did hold any political leader of our country as a model to look up to...Like most of us, I want safety, prosperity and a future of good opportunities...I could care less about the personal issues, syria, he said/she said and other tiny but blown out of proportion issues that sell the news, but not critical to my or my family's well being. I consider myself an independent mostly because I don't really trust either side of the aisle.
I try to simply keep my eye on the ball that meets my safety, prosperity and opportunity goals in life.
Tucker does a very nice job of stating facts that make you wonder about so many things that are too often disguised as something else in order to take your eye off the ball...Thank You Tucker!

Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes - obscure Bible verses, odd symbols - have the police stumped. Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex's sister and her family. It's a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has been there only a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.
