This is just what I needed today... succinct and engaging with plot-twists galore. The performers have all portrayed their characters very well. What is there not to like?

Oldie but a Goodie
Reviewed: 12-11-24
The topic of the novel is well past its "Best Before" date (hence 4 stars for story), but Stephen King's writing rarely disappoints. I listened to this novel for the first time in 2024 and was well-prepared for plot outline due to the fact 'S.L. is so well-known. Nonetheless, there are a few scenes that I found thoroughly shocking. So, if that is what you seek, have at it! The narrative is very well done.

Enjoyable cozy mystery, with a few twists

As a fan of Agatha Christie, I loved this novel. It is very different from her serial pieces (Poirot and Miss Marple) and provides an interesting alrernative toward her more traditional formula and topics.

The narrative is very well-done, allowing characters to come to life. I found the transitions between settings to be effective in building suspense. The plot is sufficiently complex to keep the reader wanting to listen to just one more chapter before turning out the lights.

I just don’t ‘get’ modern literature. Stories are told because stories can be told ... there is actually no compelling reason for its existence. This book unfolds like a soap opera .. listen to it if you really have nothing better to do.
