This is just what I needed today... succinct and engaging with plot-twists galore. The performers have all portrayed their characters very well. What is there not to like?

The topic of the novel is well past its "Best Before" date (hence 4 stars for story), but Stephen King's writing rarely disappoints. I listened to this novel for the first time in 2024 and was well-prepared for plot outline due to the fact 'S.L. is so well-known. Nonetheless, there are a few scenes that I found thoroughly shocking. So, if that is what you seek, have at it! The narrative is very well done.

As a fan of Agatha Christie, I loved this novel. It is very different from her serial pieces (Poirot and Miss Marple) and provides an interesting alrernative toward her more traditional formula and topics.

This has to be one of my favourite Stephen King novels, after the sublime Duma Key, that is.

The narrative is very well-done, allowing characters to come to life. I found the transitions between settings to be effective in building suspense. The plot is sufficiently complex to keep the reader wanting to listen to just one more chapter before turning out the lights.

Despite the drawn-out plot, it is certainly exciting and enjoyable to listen to (albeit being quite brutal at times). All in all, I would rate “The Maze Runner” as a worthy contributor to my favourite genre and look forward to reading the next installment.

Not only is this novel spellbinding, the narration is outstanding. The dialogue is exceptional and paint a vivid picture ;) . I need to linger on this novel a little longer - it will take some time for me to be ready to face my next book ... Duma Key won’t be easy to match, in my opinion.

I just don’t ‘get’ modern literature. Stories are told because stories can be told ... there is actually no compelling reason for its existence. This book unfolds like a soap opera .. listen to it if you really have nothing better to do.

The audiobook made an excellent youth novel even better. I particularly appreciated help with the pronunciation of Spanish and Kiowa words. Highly recommended!
