About this listen

A secret past can destroy the future

It all begins when Wade Kaplan receives a strange, coded email from his uncle Henry, shortly before the old man's sudden and suspicious death. He sets off for Germany to attend the funeral with his father, Roald, and his three friends Darrell, Lily, and Becca, only to discover that Uncle Henry left them yet another baffling message that they suspect is the key to figuring out how and why he died.

The message leads to a clue, which sends them to a dark and creepy family tomb. The more clues they discover, the farther they travel down a treacherous path toward an ancient, guarded secret. Soon, they are in a breathless race across the globe, running for their lives as a ruthless shadow organization chases them around every corner. Their only hope of saving themselves - and the world that they know - is to find 12 magical relics from a hidden past that will unlock the Copernicus Legacy.

The Forbidden Stone is the beginning of Tony Abbott's epic new series, a thrilling adventure packed with puzzles, intrigue, and action.

National Treasure meets Da Vinici Code

Would you consider the audio edition of The Forbidden Stone to be better than the print version?

As all unabridge versions, exactally like the book, Local law enforcment frowns on reading while driving so i will stick to the audio versons

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would have to say Becca, the shy introvert the author does give a glimps of her coming out of her shell.

Have you listened to any of MacLeod Andrews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listen to any othere Audio, while his voices are no Roy Datrice or Jim Dale he does a decent job

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found the story made some presumptions that were not obvious. The interaction between villian and the children to be lacking, Would love to have more depth to the villian, That being said with more books to come i see that role growing

Any additional comments?

decent book I will be listing to the others i am intrested in the subject matter and it did an OK job in grabbing my attention

An excellent narrator

The narrator’s performance turned an average book into a good one... a most enjoyable listening experience.

The start of a LONG journey...

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not necessarily. The kids are irritating, most of them are dumb, and the story line was damn predictable, with barely enough features that it kept my from returning the damn thing.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The underlying scientific concept is and of itself fascinating, but there are so many loose ends and illogical or plain dumb offshots that they overcame the good.
The least? Um, I didn't "get" the origins of the chase.

Overall, not a great audiobook.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

DIfficult to bring a crappy story to life. Did the best he could have I suspect, but not great either.

Do you think The Forbidden Stone needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

This series needs to go away.

Any additional comments?

Young adult/teenage drama at best. Avoid.
