This book was purely nasty.. simply because this book does not deal with falling in love, but falling in lust. There were token signs to show the male protagonist is falling in love, but it read more of lust not true love. The "attraction" troupe is so much that it blurs the lines of what love and lust are. This is porn plain and simple. The catch phrases to make people feel better about reading/listening to these books and not fully comprehend what these types of books are smut, steamy come on folks, it is PORN, you may not be watching porn, but you are listening or reading it. Be honest with yourselves.. They are not just smut, or steamy, they are graphic and gross.
I won't be visiting this author again. These books could potentially be a really fun time, if the curtains were closed more. Well that and better writing.

Why does XE Sands sounds like she whines in all of her narrations? It gets beyond annoying when she sounds like she is a willowing tree.. and slugs her way through the character's story. I get some of it due to the plot. But every book and every sentence and character.
I enjoyed the story for the most part, family dynamics, Love, loss, optimistic type views, standing up for one self. Growing through tough times.
I wish that someone would tell XE Sands to lighten up occasionally, make some of the characters a bit more "fun". Not so dull and Eeyore esk. (don't get me wrong, I love Eeyore), but enough already!

Irene Hannon weaves such lovely heartfelt messages in her books. Faith, Hope, Forgiveness are central themes in her books. She does not shy away from discussing 'God" and "Faith, while not being preachy. Just enough to remember one's own faith regardless of religious back ground.
I loved Jack and Christi's story, even though it was sad to start out, but how the main characters grew through forgiveness. I love how this is not just about "romance" but about life. How to persevere. Through their faith, how they understood the way life took roads to help them get to where they ended up.
We need more authors like Irene. I am a fan of her work.
Then we have Therese Plummer... I adore listening to her. She is one of my favorite narrators. Thanks again for another great performance.

I am so glad I gave this author and book a try. It was suspenseful, heartbreaking, disgusting, sad, irritating. All in a good way.
Heartbreaking is one word to describe it. A married mother of two, discovers her husband is a serial killer. She is also arrested and acquitted of helping in those murders. The mob mentality comes after her through their computer anonymity. Which is so true in today's world. "cancel culture" and "rush to judgement" with out having all the information. Because of this she goes into hiding and changes her identity to protect her children. I found myself so angry at those attacking her and not helping her, until she finds solace (of some sort) in a small town by a lake. Who can and who does she dare trust? Her husband is not done with her yet.
Things again start to unravel, and her peace is no longer viable.
This book takes you for a ride, and now anxious to read the other books in this series, to see if they hold up to this first book.
Many coitized the narrator (eye roll). Emily Sutton-Smith was actually decent, and I did not find her annoying. I have listened to many who are so much worse than her. I found her entertaining.

Thoughts on this book are simply this, WHY WHY WHY? How difficult is it to write intelligent and funny dialogue? This book has neither. Why are we catering to the lazy speech and idiot crude references? Why is it when miscommunication happens it is always the man's fault, and he is the one groveling and asking for forgiveness? But when the female counter part is equally as at fault? Do we hear an apology from the female character NOOOOOO. I have read many books in that same vein and I find it particularly awful. "It takes two to miscommunicate" How dare Blake balance integrity with his heart. Izzy took, took and took from him with no thought. Men in todays society gets it rough, almost too rough. There is a balance I hope in the universe.
There were so many cringe worthy quotes, lines and conversations. I clearly don't understand what the draw is to these types of books. Many other authors can do it better.
Why is the "F" word in nearly every sentence (it feels that way), and does it have to be there? NOPE. many authors don't use foul language, and their books are entertaining and very interesting reads. I was annoyed through most of the story.
I rooted for Blake and hated Izzy. These characters are supposed to be so well educated, but act like we are back in Jr High. *gross*.
I doubt I will be venturing in any more of this author's work., horribly written and very annoying and boring. Was hoping for something better written than this, with the hype of this authors popularity. I won't be getting on that train. Sad.
Amy Melissa Bentley i have enjoyed her on other narrated books but this was not one of her best. Probably the authors doing?

Story
Once there was a young woman from a well-to-do New England family who never quite fit with the drawing rooms and parlors of her kin. Called instead to the tangled woods and wild cliffs surrounding her family’s estate, Margaret Harlowe grew both stranger and more beautiful as she cultivated her uncanny power. Soon, whispers of “witch” dogged her footsteps, and Margaret’s power began to wind itself with the tendrils of something darker.

Again? Did the Narrator make or Break it?
Reviewed: 03-24-23
Lauren Enzo has a pleasant enough voice, but why does she have to make EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE sound like there are ten exclamation marks behind it.!!!!!!!!! SOOOO DRAMATIC, and heavy breaths in between, that made it sounded worse.
This was a very boring book., I almost did not finish it, and I am glad it is finished. Centered around a historical home of a witch from Salem Mass. I did not like Augusta at all, the main character, I could not empathize with her. She had mental health issues, that everyone catered too, such as her eating disorder. They coddled her instead of helping her face the issue of "EXTREME" Calorie counting. There is a point in supporting and another point in having a conversation to help her conquer those "fears" or her relationship with food. There has to be a better way to deal with eating disorders other than how this author handled the sensitive and important subject matter. This book made it like everyone else had eating issues, not Augusta.
Her boyfriend turned out to be abusive? He did not read as abusive, just immature and neglectful of his relationship. Then all of the sudden he was a physically abusive to her when he was drunk, and after they broke up? When that was never an issue in the 5 years they were together. Come on, lets develop the characters to make said abuser believable. Augusta was partly at fault in that relationship since she did not discuss her concerns and frustrations with him.
She finds another job and WHAM falls for someone who works with her. UGH!! Dual time lines introduce Margaret the witch who had lived in the house and it delves into her story. Sad and tragic, but also sinister character she was. I did not like Margaret either.
The writing itself was fairly decent, and had substance. No explicit sex, gore or language, which is why this got an overall 2 stars. If the story, characters were better developed and likable, It would have improved my experience with this story, as well as the writing.
I don't know if I will revisit this author.

Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

BORING.... YAWN FEST... It was merely OK
Reviewed: 03-14-23
This book won brownie points, simply because there was no explicit sex scenes.. So refreshing. However, the foul language in this book negated the no sex scenes.
WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!?! .. does it have to be filled with "F" bombs. They do not need to be there, they would not be missed whatsoever. The swearing was incredibly offensive to me. Using foul language does not make one smarter, in many ways I see it as it makes one dumber.
I listened to the audio book edition. The narrator had a nice voice, but I found myself YAWNING.. was it the book, or the narrator? Who really knows, I doubt I will purchase the book to read and find out. This book was boring. The redundancy of Gracie and her issues, along with the other characters. Sam the male lead in this story, I really enjoyed, even if he was a bit brutish in the beginning. Towards the middle of the book he would apologize to her and the situation they found themselves in. However, Gracie rarely showed "Grace or understanding to him".
The feminist, racist, and mental health troupes in this book were thought provoking and important to discuss. More so the racists and mental health aspect, we all need to understand each others perspectives and be kind with each other, whether you are Asian, Black, White, and or of any ethnic group. We are all human, we need to watch out for others and mental health issues.. The feminist take on this drove me nuts, (in a small way). In order for women to fulfill their dreams does not mean they need to tear men down in the process. There is a balance to accomplish great things, if e are all in it together.
Over all I am glad I read it, but I won't revisit it.

This book was an ok read/listen. I neither hated it or really liked it. I felt it was too long for the content of the story.
I loved the story line between Julia and her Grandmother, that was endearing, and enjoyable. Their conversations and sharing life and experiences in researching their family wedding veil that had been passed down generation to generation.
I did NOT like Cordelia's character, she was selfish and acted entitled, even if she wanted to be "free" she had a good husband, a lovely home, and family, children. She dyed her hair pink and In the 1930's I doubt it? Also to have a place to clear her aura.. umm that is a late 1900 thing, not a late 1800's thing. The author did her research, I don't thinks so in regards to that particular storyline.. That was unbelievable and annoying Maybe black hair dye with the pin curls that were the rage. If that part of the storyline was not included, I probably would give this read a 3.5 stars not a 2.5 stars
I am grateful for the lack of foul language and sexual (Pornographic) sex scenes, in this novel. To me this means a decent and well written novel can occur with out that garbage in it.

Another Narrator Bites the DUST! HORRIBLE
Reviewed: 02-16-23
I really wanted to like this author, but after listening to two of her books.. the narrator makes it difficult to enjoy. I will give Patricia's books another chance by reading the book next book.
Thrillers I can enjoy if they are interesting, but this particular book was boring, I mean really boring. I was bored the whole way through this book, was anxious for it to be over. Maybe it was the narrator that recorded books / audible uses or it's the writing.?
C. J. Critt is awful to listen too... she breaths heavily through out, very distracting, and very slow. I could not stay engaged with this book. She also sounds like a smoker, (I know Kay Scarpetta smokes), but does not mean her voice is engaging or interesting to listen too.
