Story
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring.

Better as physical Book
Reviewed: 12-25-19
The Narrator is absolutely awful. I found it so had to get into the book because her performance is lacking and someone monotone. There wasn't much in the way of emotion. I also bought the physical copy and enjoyed actually reading it SO much more. The story is good, but ruined by the narrative.

I liked it, very beauty and the beast-ish with aspects of other tales woven in... but it slaughtered my feels.

Element of Final Fantasy
Reviewed: 04-29-17
I really enjoyed this book. It was a little hard to follow at first. I think mostly because the story jumps to perspectives of different characters, and the narrator doesn't pause between them. Once you've sorta adjusted to follow the narrator it's much easier.
I couldn't help but be reminded of Final Fantasy as I listened. If you're a fan of Final Fantasy, you will enjoy this book. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story develops.
