Amazing in every way. Couldn’t wait for the times I could listen to it. Jessica Chastain was amazing and believable in this “radio” role.

Struggle to connect with the character
Reviewed: 01-17-23
I think I may have struggled with the reader. She did a terrible child voice and a terrible male voice. The main character just never really stays true to any kind of personality. The romance was sort of blah too. It was just a little bit unbelievable. Despite that there were parts of it that I enjoyed, and I stuck with it.

Very Entertaining

What is this perfectly written? No. Was it perfectly performed? It was pretty well done. I gave it five stars all around because I found myself wanting to listen to it and not put it down after my walks or after being in my car listening to it. I struggle to find books like that. This one was definitely, “I want to keep listening to it” read for me.

Didn’t flow well
Reviewed: 02-11-20
I got so frustrated constantly. She switched time, and kept repeating the same story according to each person in the story. I could not keep up. The story felt stunted and confusing. I don’t know if I will read another Jodi Picoult story again because she does tend to do that. The reader was excellent however and kept me listening.

Story
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

I found the interview narrative to be very annoying. You could never really follow a story. The sing at the end made me laugh. Honeycomb was there big hit? On what planet?
