Story
Hi, I'm Alexis Delaney. I'm your average 17-year-old girl. Except I can see the dead. And talk to the dead. And push them away and, well, help them move on. For years I've been struggling to survive the souls still roaming around. The shitheads always seem to find me. Moving from town to town every few months never helped either. More dead just always find me. But things are changing for me now. I'm moving in with my uncle Rory and cousin Tara. I'm finally going to be able to do normal teenage stuff I've been missing out on. Right?

Good story, but too much fashion input
Reviewed: 07-21-23
This is a good listen. I am moving to the second book. That being said be ready to listen to a daily rundown of what everyone is wearing. The author also repeats somethings, just in case you missed it the first 2 times. Maybe better editing, is what is needed.

I am a huge fan, but this book is a lot of chunks of filler. A little story here, skip a few, a little story there. Not on my reread list. As always, the performance was wonderful, probably why I was able to finish the book.

Story
Among the Shadowdwellers, Trace holds power that some are willing to kill for. Without a stranger's aid, one rival would surely have succeeded, but Trace's brush with death is less surprising to him than his reaction to the beautiful, fragile human who heals him. By rights, Trace should hardly even register Ashla's existence within the realm of Shadowscape, but instead he is drawn to everything about her-her innocence, her courage, and her lush, sensual heat.

I finished it, but I am not interested in the rest of the series. The narration was ok with what she had to work with. The characters aren't full. I was not invested in them. Honestly, I found that I didn't remember which name went with which character, and I was 75% through the book. It is steamy, but in a detatched way. Again not invested I suppose.

Story
As a wolf shifter growing up in a strong pack, I should be living my best life. But after my father tried to kill our leader, I’m labelled an outcast, traitor, less than dirt. When I can't take pack life any longer, I run, but apparently they don't like losing their punching bag. Torin, the leader’s son, drags me back before my first shift...a shift that will reveal my true mate. I never could have predicted who mine would be, but the moment my wolf looks upon him, I’m filled with hope for a brighter future.

SPOILER ALERT...This ends in a cliff hanger. I was interested enough to go on to the next book but I am stopping there. It was not worth my time to finish it, but I kept hoping it would be better. The world is interesting and a few of the characters grab the reader but not enough for me to go onto the 3rd book.

Story
For the past 10 years I’ve been a victim. A victim to my pack. A victim to my true mate, who rejected me in the most brutal of ways. And a victim to Shadow Beast, who used me for his own gains. Or did he? The beast of mystery never reveals his whole hand, but one thing is for sure...in my time with him, I've changed. Now I will no longer walk the path dictated by the powerful men in my life. Never again will I let my strength be taken from me. I must evolve or die. And we all know, with a choice like that, there’s really only one answer.

The world is interesting. The overall story is ok. There just isn't any heat in the sex. I mean it is discribed thoroughly but not a lot of heart and connection...just a few sparks here and there to keep the reader hoping. I can't keep reading this series. I found myself rolling my eyes in the middle of one encounter while thinking here we go again.

Beauty and the Beast but longer
Reviewed: 04-13-21
Some reviews of this book I read are too harsh. I almost didn't listen to it. I am glad I did. It is not a favorite. It is, at its core, Beauty and the Beast. A third of the book was adjectives and adverbs. Every discription was done at least three ways. I came to like most of the characters. I will consider getting the the next books in the series. I don't think this is one I would reread over and over, but don't regret my time listening.

This is my favorite of all the books Dannika Dark has written. Naya is wonderful, sexy, confident in herself, and still a little tarnished. Wheeler is the guy that had too much heart and no one sees it. "..and boom goes the dynamite". Wow. Nicole Poole is awesome too. Oooo I want more like Naya and Wheeler.
