Story
Assistant District Attorney Lettie Portman charges a US senator with the murder of his wife. The wife was found dead, sitting in her Mercedes with a garden hose from the exhaust into her window. Suicide? Maybe, except the detectives learn the wife's fingerprints are nowhere on the hose. She appears to reach from the grave and point an accusing finger at her husband. And there's another twist: The senator's million-dollar lawyer is involved in a deadly conspiracy against Lettie.

Must Be Written By Another Author...
Reviewed: 06-07-25
We listened to The People's Lawyer: Lettie Portman, Book 1. There are a number of differences to Lettie Portmans life in Book 2 when compared to Book 1. Her Husband has some how disappeared in three months or is it 6 months time, both time periods are suggested in book 2. There are so many difference in the story of the main characters life that it is like a different author, who had not read the first book, wrote this one. I also thought that any editor worth their weight would have picked up on the differences. We have listened to a number of Thaddeus Murfee Legal Thriller Series, and the stories were good, but the writing was not the same quality or the attention to any of the details. The only saving grace was the Narrator - Therese Plummer. We have found that she does an excellent job with any book she narrates.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a slow paced life story that had a few surprises and was so well written that it kept my attention. I will read from this author again & recommend it to my friends.

I couldn't listen to this book. Something that should have been encouraging and uplifting was not worth listening to. The narrator can't read and has difficulty pronouncing words. His start and stop - stunted method of reading is sad. I won't get another book with him narrating.

Story
In the compelling conclusion to the New York Times best-seller Her Mother’s Hope, Christy Award-winning author Francine Rivers explores the sorrow that can tear families apart and the grace that can heal the deepest wounds. Just as Carolyn had formed a stronger bond with her Oma Marta than with her mother, so Carolyn’s daughter is drawn to her grandma more than to a mom who’s caught up in the 1960s counterculture....

Talented Author and storyteller
Reviewed: 06-01-17
This is the story of women; women in one maternal line and how they lived, survived, had faith, worked hard and raised their daughters/families. From one generation to the next, this story continues down through the daughters. Through WWI, WWII, Vietnam and other strife such as the great depression.
The Author is so talented, she keeps the reader engaged and feeling part of the story, experiencing emotions of the characters.
It's a sad tale with so much hardship, so many things to overcome...it's a story of woman passing their faith in the Lord Jesus from one generation to the next and of passing their love.
Excellent! Well worth the time and listen! It' is a faith-inspiring novel(s) that is sure to stir desires of your own life!

Helps to tie the first story to this one, a continuation of the first. Love small town stories, mysteries in small town give you so much more of the characters imagery.

Long before Dr. Fingal Flahertie O’Reilly made most listeners’ acquaintance in Patrick Taylor's best-selling novel An Irish Country Doctor, he appeared in a series of humorous columns originally published in Stitches: The Journal of Medical Humour. These warm and wryly amusing vignettes provide an early glimpse at the redoubtable Dr. O’Reilly as he tends to the colourful and eccentric residents of Ballybucklebo, a cozy Ulster village nestled in the bygone years of the early '60s.

Snow is a rarity in Maura Donovan's small village in County Cork, Ireland, so she wasn't sure what to expect when a major snowstorm rolled in around Sullivan's pub. But now she's stranded in a bar full of patrons - and a suspected killer in a long-ago murder. Maura's been in Ireland less than a year and hasn't heard about the decades-old unsolved crime that took place nearby, let alone the infamous suspect, Diane Caldwell.
