About this listen

Jack's a retired ex-cop from New York, seeking the simple life in Cherringham. Sarah's a Web designer who's moved back to the village find herself. But their lives are anything but quiet as the two team up to solve Cherringham's criminal mysteries. This compilation contains episodes 13 - 15:

A Lesson in Murder:
When Jack and Sarah are called in to investigate mysterious pranks at Cherringham Girls School, it seems at first that it might be the work of a few mean pupils with a grudge. But things quickly turn serious when a popular teacher meets a sudden, violent death.

The Secret of Combe Castle:
When the penniless FitzHenrys find themselves victims of a threatening campaign to oust them from their ancestral home, Jack and Sarah are called in to track down the culprit. Soon they discover that truth is often stranger than fiction, and in Combe Castle things do indeed go bump in the night...

A Fatal Fall:
Dylan McCabe - a labourer on a rushed Cherringham building project - has been complaining about the site's lack of safety. When he's discovered dead after a fall, it seems that Dylan's own warnings were all too true. Jack and Sarah get involved, and suddenly what looks like an accident, becomes a case of cold-blooded murder.

Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa. For fans of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple series", Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who series", Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham. The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in "Midsomer Murders" and "Jim Riley" in "The Life of Riley".©2017 Bastei Lübbe (P)2017 Lübbe Audio

Sound Is An Issue

Usually I give this series all 5's in a review. The volume on these stories makes me hesitant to buy the next books. The narrator raises and lowers his voice for emphasis, but to an extreme where the toop volume is so loud that I needed to turn it down.
Then, when in the next sentence, he would all but whisper, I couldn't hear what he said.
If I turned it back up, I would be startled by a shout. This was constantl throughout the book. Soooo annoying!
Surely there is a way for Audible to edit this? Does Audible read these reviews?

Wonderful Series

Have listened to all the books to this point and have been captivated by the diversity of the stories and development of the characters. Neil Dudgeon is amazing!! He really puts it all together with his awesome narration, just love it! So refreshing to find books that have interesting plots, like able and believable characters in family friendly settings. Modern plots that include current topics of interest.

Love these Cherringham stories!

Where does Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 13-15) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

These stories are among my favorites for time in the car - straightforward, well read, and generally a perfect way to spend that drive.

What did you like best about this story?

Good characters, good reading, good distraction from reality!

Any additional comments?

They can't offer new stories - chapters - fast enough for me. Every month I find I'm hoping there is a new one available. More, please?

Always intriguing

The main characters are interesting and I like getting to know them better with each episode. Narrator is great and I like the shorter length of 3 individual stories when I’m not in the mood to start a 6 hour + book.

More Places, More Faces

Cherringham`s countryside gets a bit more developed with the ruins of a Norman castle and some fishing lakes. The series has matured enough that there are now one or two references to previous events which tie the overall story line and setting together. These stories continue the charming tales of Jack and Sarah, augmented by episode characters which serve to give us some color and keep the stores from being mundane. A question for corrie listeners: does the construction office's door open in, or out? Does Sarah ever tell Jack about the break in at her office?

Great Detective Series

I really like this series because of the characters and the place it is written about. I have come to care about the characters and look forward to their increasing depth. The series is like watching a favorite PBC who done it.

Worth The Listen

Have listened to all of the series and they are good stories. The music between stories isn't needed.
