The book feels forced with an overdose of drama. To messy for me and I'll stop the series now.

Exciting way of telling a story, but no red string
Reviewed: 07-20-21
The story takes an unusual and but exciting approach to imagine the magical world. Its not perfect, but i will try the second book. Im curios about the story and how the author evolves.
Don't expect a red string to this story, but if you are looking for a new approach to story telling, Then this book its worth a closer look.

Feels like a side story or a spin off
Reviewed: 02-07-20
This book is good, but not at the same level as the other books in this series.
With the change in focus to the other minor characters, this story felt like a side story or a spin off series.
The humor is not as sharp as the other books, and felt a bit forced at times.
The book is worth reading, but I hope the next book in the series will be more like the first 3 books In the series.

Fun book, but missing charm
Reviewed: 03-25-18
Fun book, but the age of the main character feels very wrong.
The “internal” dialog and the adult conversation does not feel like a 12-13 year old.
The adults talks to her as an equal, discussing and wanting her opinion on world changing subject.
The teachers ask more for help, then providing guidance. Given advanced tasks, and displays very rational thought patterns. For a “kid” there a too few games, and messing around. Too many “grownups” ideas and dialogs, and too little hormones.
I would like to see her learn and fail more. She knows too much, and is too perfect for a fresh student.
The book main character would be more plausible with an age between 17-24 years

Story
My name is Alice Long, and I've always known I was different. When I was little I used to climb up to the highest branches of the housetree at night, and watch the starships docking at the orbital stations high above. Forty meters off the ground, watching ships 30,000 kilometers overhead, with senses that could pick out radar pings and comm chatter as easily as the ships themselves. It all seemed perfectly natural at the time.

A book for Young adults, with a little more depth
Reviewed: 04-30-17
A book for Young adults, with a little more depth than usual.
The main layout is very basic: Young main person, that don’t fit in. Has a mysterious past. Runs away. Becomes awesome over night and everyone loves her.
The sub story and long term plot, has a little more depth than the normal young adults book. I hope the story will develop and maybe make the hero a little less “perfect and awesome”.
The bad side of the story is that the main character gets a lot of quick fixes and become perfect and gets an easy solution in every situation. The skill system for the hero is based on growing internal “modifications”. This skill system gets over used in this book, and saves to many situations, without any big struggles for the hero.
The story has potential, but I hope for a better and less awesome hero in book two.
