Great story

Ok I loved the story, that being said the narrator is the only thing that could be better the random pauses and him losing place hurts this otherwise great story.
Still loved it though.

Story
Devin Eveson is a Soulkeeper, traveling through remote villages as a preacher and healer. But when a mysterious black water washes over the world, the veil is torn, flooding the land with ancient magic and forgotten races: fire that dances as if alive, corpses that walk, and creatures that can manipulate time itself. And not all the creatures that have reawakened remember humanity fondly. As the land grows more dangerous and more chaotic, Soulkeepers are turning up dead, their bodies transformed into macabre works of art.

Now he's in the middle of something he doesn't understand, never asked for, and is having quite possibly the greatest time of his life. Semper Fi and which way are the shores of Tripoli anyway?

When World War 3 erupts on American soil, it is up to some less than likely heroes to band together and stand tall against any and all comers as a once proud nation is brought to her knees. I really enjoyed this book, I found myself laughing out loud several times during the listen. I think the reader does a great job with the sarcasm and general smart a#% attitude of Kal. I was on a long trip at the time and this is one of the only audio books Ive ever listened to twice in one trip.
I just wish it was longer, Cant wait to see if there's a second book

They might be doomed, damned, and buggered for all eternity, but that didn't mean they couldn't sparkle like a diamond in the sun and grin like a skull in the moonlight on their way to oblivion. Musket and cannon, bow and arrow, and magic and diplomacy vie for supremacy once again in this second epic fantasy adventure from acclaimed author Chris Evans.
